8 Fake Cryptocurrency Mining apps: Following the sit at home and whole pandemic saga, cryptocurrency has gain popularity. And now, there are people out there using fake cryptocurrency mining apps to defraud users.

A research done by Trend Micro found out 8 cryptocurrency apps that were available on Google Play Store. These apps gives the impression to users to be mining apps but in truth they were not / are not.

The 8 apps tried to lure users into watching video ads and paying for subscription services to increase mining powers without giving nothing in return to users. In some cases, users paid up to $15 monthly fee for fake subscription services.

Fortunately, these 8 fake cryptocurrency apps were identified and reported. Google then took action and deleted them from the Play store.

From the data available on Play store, these fake crypto-mining apps had been installed by some 100,000 people. Below are the 8 fake cryptocurrency mining that were removed by Google. If you have any of them still install in your phone, uninstall them now.

• Crypto Holic – Bitcoin Cloud Mining
• Bitcoin 2021
• Daily Bitcoin Rewards – Cloud Based Mining System
• Bitcoin Miner – Cloud Mining
• Bitcoin (BTC) – Pool Mining Cloud Wallet
• MineBit Pro – Crypto Cloud Mining & btc miner

The research from Trend micro reports that these apps have no cryptocurrency mining features. But still, the apps prompted users to opt in for a monthly subscription that cost $14.99 to $189.99.

There is so many cryptocurrency springing up left and right. It’s very difficult to know which is crypto project is legit. So, before you jump into any crypto project be sure to do your personal research as the crypto market is very volatile.

Lastly, don’t install apps you saw online even on Play Store. If mining crypto were that easy everyone would be millionaire by now. So, keep your eyes peeled to avoid installing fake crypto-mining apps that might actually be more harmful than good.
