Airtel 5G in India: Airtel will begin to deploy its 5G network across India’s key cities from August 2022. The telecom giant made the announcement known today that it has signed 5G network agreements with Ericsson, Samsung, and Nokia to start 5G deployment in August 2022.

Airtel paid INR431 billion ($5.45 billion) to obtain spectrum in the 900Mhz, 1,800MHz, 2,100Mhz, and 3,300MHz bands for sub-6GHz 5G and in the 26GHz band for mmWave. In total, Airtel obtained 19.8GHz in the spectrum and this deal is to last for the next 20 years.

Aside from Airtel, other tech companies that purchased 5G spectrum in India included Reliance Jio and Vodafone Idea. Both companies spent $11.2 billion for 24.7GHz and $2.4 billion for 6.2GHz, respectively.
Airtel 5G in India will be rolling out in major cities soon. Although the tech giant is yet to make known to the public its timeline, however, it should be expected soon. Additionally, aside from Ericsson, Airtel has also partnered with Nokia and Samsung to help with the rollout and infrastructure.
