Apple A15 Bionic vs MediaTek Dimensity 9000: The Dimensity 9000 chipset has a very good feature on paper, but can it measure up to the performing beast of Apple A15 bionic? In this comparison post, we’re going to focus on the CPU, GPU, ISP, ML & AI, etc. And at the end of this article, we’ll find out who wins the battle between the Apple A15 Bionic vs MediaTek Dimensity 9000.
Build Process
Both chipsets are built by TSMC, however, the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 was manufactured on a 4nm process which makes it the first SoC in the World to be built on such a smaller node. Apple A15 Bionic uses TSMC 5nm process which is one generation behind the MediaTek Dimensity 9000’s 4nm that uses TSMC’s new N4 design.
In the chipset world, the smaller the node the better it is. Thus the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 has an edge over Apple A15 Bionic here.

CPU
These two chipsets have different CPU designs. MediaTek Dimensity 9000 has 1+3+4 octa-core CPU architecture, while Apple A15 Bionic has 2+4 Hexa-core CPU architecture. The Dimensity 9000 is the first mobile chip to use the latest ARM’s Cortex-X2 core based on the ARM’s V9 architecture.
CPU Core | Dimensity 9000 | Snapdragon 888 |
Power Cores | 1x ARM Cortex-X2 | 2x Avalanche (High-performance) |
Speed | 3.05 GHz | 3.2 GHz |
Efficiency | 3x Cortex-A710 4x Cortex-A510 | 4x Blizzard (Energy-efficient) |
Speed | 2.85GHz 1.8GHz | 2.85GHz |
In a real-time test on Geekbench v5, the Apple A15 Bionic beats the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 on total scores.

GPU
Apple A15 Bionic has 5 new GPU cores with a peak frequency of up to 1200MHz. On the other hand, the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 is World’s first chipset with Mali-G710 GPU. With 10 core GPU onboard, MediaTek says the cores have a peak frequency of about 850MHz.
Even though the Mali-G710 GPU can perform a similar task as Apple’s GPU, in overall graphics rendering, the Apple GPU is better.
ISP
When it comes to camera sensor flexibility and advancement, the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chip has an edge. The 18-bit HDR ISP from MediaTek gives support of up to 320MP sensor and can record video of up to 8k resolution.
However, according to Apple, the A15 Bionic has a newly designed ISP that does well with Apple’s computational photography, the new Cinematic Mode feature, live filters, and more.
The image signal processing (ISP) of the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 is so good that it can process up to nine gigapixels per second.

Memory
MediaTek Dimensity 9000 is the first SoC with LPDDR5X memory support, while Apple A15 Bionic has LPDDR4x. The new LPDDR5X standard for RAM is superior to LPDDR4x with a performance increase of more than 30%. The LPDDR5X is even more power-efficient than LPDDR4X.
Connectivity
The first mobile chip to come with a Bluetooth version 5.3 is the MediaTek Dimensity 9000. While the Apple A15 Bionic only has Bluetooth 5.0 support which is generations behind.
But when it comes to 5G support – the Apple A15 Bionic supports both Sub-6GHz and mmWave. Unlike the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 that supports only Sub-6GHz.
