The design of the MacBook Pro 2021 took another look which makes it unique from previous MacBooks. The bezels got thinner and there’s a notch in the top bezel housing the 1080p high-quality webcam. Although at first, it might look weird with time you won’t even notice it, especially when you start enjoying the quality webcam for your video calls or meetings.

More so, the weight and bulkiness shouldn’t be ignored because it is there and noticeable. However, with such a thick build comes great speakers and enough space for the fan to cool off the system during demanding performances. Even the bulky design gives room for multiple ports such as Thunderbolt 4 (x3), HDMI, MagSafe 3, headphone jack, and SD memory card slot.

Apple Macbook Pro 2021 Review: Display

The display of the MacBook Pro 2021 is rich, vibrant, and color-accurate. Thanks to the Liquid Retina XDR panel from Apple. That bright, vibrant mini-LED display works hand in hand with the adaptive 120Hz refresh rate to give you an awesome smooth experience.

But was there something else Apple could have fixed? Yes. A native 4k display would have done total justice since this laptop was made for top creative professionals. Nevertheless, UHD content looks great on this screen.

Apple MacBook Pro 2021 Review: Performance

The best chipset/processor Apple has ever made for its laptop is the M1 Max, seconded by the M1 Pro. Thus, the MacBook Pro 2021 is the best laptop from Apple yet. It delivers top-notch performance and it does while consuming less power. The configurations are from 16-64 GB RAM and 512 GB – 8TB storage.

Comparing it with windows laptops from Asus and Dell, the MacBook Pro 2021 smoked most of them on Geekbench. The point here is that the M1 Max/M1 Pro laptop from Apple is very powerful, fast, and capable of running intensive performance effectively.

Keyboard and touchpad

One thing I’m so excited about in this year’s MacBook Pro is the removal of the touch bar, which is now replaced with useful functional keys. For first, the functional keyboard is more professional but if you’ll miss the touch bar then stick to the predecessor.

Below the keyboard is the touchpad. It is big, very easy to use, and picks up gesture commands accurately. But is it all perfect? No. Apple should make a little space between the keys next time to make it easier for big hands to type.

Webcam

Apple understood the assignment of looking good during video calls. The COVID-19 lockdown brought in so many restrictions and thus the need of looking good during video calls at home skyrocketed. To address that issue, Apple introduced a 1080p FaceTime HD webcam that does a great job of capturing excellent photos and video. It is a welcome upgrade that is far better than the 720p webcam in windows laptops.

What should Apple fix? Face ID would have been great on the new MacBook Pro 2021. But I believe it’s only a matter of time before Apple will introduce a Face ID on their MacBook Pro.

Apple MacBook Pro 2021 Review: Battery and Heat

Power efficiency and better heat management are some good reasons to buy the M1 Max MacBook Pro. The MacBook Pro 2021 battery, on the other hand, lasted beyond our expectations. When fully charge, you can get up to 15/16 hours of web surfing, which is insane and incredible all at the same time.

When using the MagSafe 3 port to charge the MacBook Pro, you can get up to 50% battery in about 30 minutes. And you can also charge the laptop via the USB ports, only it doesn’t support fast charging.

So should you buy the Apple MacBook Pro 2021? Yes, but it depends. Be it the M1 Max variant or the M1 Pro model, you are good to go with top-speed performance, a long-lasting battery, a top-notch webcam, and a quality screen.

But remember, the laptop is for top creative professionals which is why it is expensive. If you don’t have a need for it, don’t dash away from your cash just like that. Apple MacBook Pro 2021 is not for fun but rather, it’s a tool for work.
