Tecno Camon 16 Premier is produced by Tecno Mobile while the Samsung Galaxy A51 is produced by Samsung Mobile. This is the very first difference between these two phones.

The Galaxy A51 is actually Samsung’s budget premium mid-range smartphone released late 2019. If you couldn’t afford the more expensive Galaxy A71 then you buy the Galaxy A51. Camon 16 Premier on the other hand, is the newest addition to the Tecno Camon camera phone line up. And it’s the upgrade of the Camon 15 Premier with pop up selfie camera.

This comparison is going to be based strictly on the paper specifications of both phones. At the end, you’ll get to decide which is better between the Camon 16 Premier and Galaxy A51.

There is no 5G connectivity for both phones (although there is a 5G version of the Galaxy A51). But, the regular Galaxy A51 comes without 5G network. This is no such a big deal because at the moment very few people actually use 5G globally (if you know what we mean).

So, there is really no difference here as both phones offer same value for users here. You can make use of 4G lite which is also have a very fast internet connectivity.

Both phones were built with same material (front glass, plastic back and plastic frame). The punch hole of the Samsung Galaxy A51 is placed at the middle while that of the Camon 16 Premier is placed at the top left side.

The Samsung Galaxy A51 comes with a SUPER AMOLED display type with size 6.5 inch while the Tecno Camon 16 Premier comes with an IPS LCD display type with a bigger size of 6.9 inch.

You can see the difference of both phones at first sight. Camon 16 Premier comes with a rectangular shaped rear camera set up which is very different from the squared rear camera set up of the Galaxy A51.

Everything about these two phones from design to its display are very different. Camon 16 Premier has bigger screen, IPS LCD display, with bigger punch hole at the top left. Galaxy A51 on the other hand has the smaller screen, SUPER AMOLED display with a simple smaller punch hole at the middle.

Both phones run on the latest Android 10 Software along with their own various skin software. You’ll get everything Android 10 has to offer in both phones, so there really isn’t much difference here.

When it comes to the SOC that powers both phones, there is a huge difference here. For starters, both phones use chipsets from different companies.

Samsung Galaxy A51 uses the Samsung Exynos 9611 while the Tecno Camon 16 Premier uses MediaTek Helio G90T. Both chipsets are very good gaming chipset from Samsung and MediaTek respectively.

According to AnTuTu score, the MediaTek Helio G90T used in the Camon 16 Premier has a higher performing score.

Exynos chipsets have always been good but not always offer the best experience in gaming, heat management and battery optimization.

So, when you compare the Exynos 9611 used in the Galaxy A51 to the MediaTek Helio G90T used in the Tecno Camon 16 Premier, you’ll won’t be too happy using the Exynos 9611 chupset.

The chipset used in Galaxy A51 is good but when compared with that used in the Camo 16 Premier, its no where close to competing. Long story short, Tecno Camon 16 Premier is the better phone here.

The Galaxy A51 comes with 6GB RAM and 128GB Internal Storage while Tecno Camon 16 Premier comes with 6/8GB RAM and 128/256GB Internal Storage. Both phones have options for external storage which is very good.

A minimum of 6GB RAM is more than you will get in most premium mid-range smartphones. Even Apple was not that generous with the RAM size of the iPhone SE 2020 and its still a very good phone.

Camo 16 Premier comes with a 64MP primary camera while the Galaxy A51 comes with a lower 48MP primary camera. But there is a 12MP ultrawide, 5MP macro and 5MP depth sensor for the Galaxy A51. Which is more impressive than the 8MP ultrawide, 2MP macro and 2MP depth found in the Camon 16 Premier.

Both phones come with a quad camera set up. As stated earlier, the rectangular shaped for Camo 16 Premier and the squared shape for Galaxy A51.

Upfront, the Camonn 16 Premier comes with a 48 + 8MP dual selfie camera while the Samsung Galaxy A51 comes with a single 32MP camera. The Camon 16 Premier can shoot 4K videos while the Galaxy A51 is good with 2k and 1080p videos.

There is also the slow mo feature which allows you to record videos in slow motion while using the Camon 16 Premier.

Samsung is known for having good cameras which we think levels the playing field here. But, the Tecno Camo 16 Premier still comes with more camera features which makes using it more exciting.

Samsung Galaxy A51 has a non-removable battery of 4000mAh with 15W fast charge while the Tecno Camon 16 Premier has a non-removable battery of 4500mAh with 33W fast charge. The battery and fast charge of the Camon 16 Premier is bigger than those of the Galaxy A51.

The starting price of the Tecno Camon 16 Premier is $272, 105,000 Naira while the starting price of the Galaxy A51 is $337, 130,000 Naira.

From the price above, the Galaxy A51 is the more expensive device. The price difference between the Galaxy A51 and Tecno Camo 16 Premier is about $37, 13,000 Naira. Which leaves us with the question, is it worth buying the Galaxy A51 over the Tecno Camon 16 Premier?

With respect to the Galaxy A51, the answer to the question above is NO. Reason because, the Tecno Camon 16 Premier offer more value for money with advance features compared to what Galaxy A51 is offering. There is no need to spend the extra cash to purchase the Samsung Galaxy A51.

Buying the Tecno Camon 16 Premier instead of the Galaxy A51 will save you some extra money while also giving you some extra feature to enjoy.

This is not to say in anyway that the Galaxy A51 is a bad phone. In its defense, the Galaxy A51 was release late last year and it’s no surprise that the new Tecno Camon 16 Premier is offering so much for less.
