Judging from the key features of both phones as seen in the table above, we’ll be comparing these phones. This is where it gets even more interesting and trust me. The summary below will show us the similarities and differences of both phones.

Network Connectivity

Both phones gives you same features when it comes to internet connectivity. There is no 5G network available in both phones. They use 2G, 3G and 4G networks which is pretty standard judging from the fact that 5G network is currently not available in most countries.

So for a start both phones are tied in this category. You get same value for the money spent here. Now lets move on to the build, design and display category to see where the differences begins.

Build, Design and Display

Both phones comes with Glass front, plastic back, plastic frame build. Which means you should expect same quality here and durability. The fingerprint sensor of these phones are placed at the back. But, the Redmi phone comes with a Gorilla Glass which the Infinx phone lacks.

Both have same display size of 6.53 inches. With the Infinix S5 Pro giving users access to full screen due to its pop up selfie camera. Game and Movie lovers will prefer having the full screen and we can understand why.

The designs and build materials of both phones are pretty much same. While the rear camera in the Infinix phone is at the side, that of the Redmi phone is at the middle. Having a Gorilla glass does give the Redmi phone an edge here.

Overall, the Redmi phone is better in this category because it offers more value for the money. Although it might not be more beautiful but it comes with a better inbuilt glass protection.

Operating System and Chipset

Redmi Note 8 Pro was released in 2019 and its running Android 9.0 (Pie) along with the User Interface MIUI 10. The Infinix S5 Pro was released in 2020 and its running Android 10.0 along with the User Interface XOS. Maybe the Redmi Note 8 Pro will be getting the Android 10 update sometime in the future.

There are also differences in the SOC section. Infinix S5 Pro uses the Mediatek MT6765 Helio P35 (12nm) SOC while the Redmi Note 8 Pro uses Mediatek Helio G90T (12nm) SOC. Both SOCs are built on same nm (12nm) which means they are expected to perform on same level.

You should expect almost same performance from the SOCs of both phones. Image processing, browsing, download, upload speed etc. But, there might a change in favor of the Redmi phone when it comes to gaming and graphics because its SOC is well known for its gaming capabilities.

In conclusion, Android 9 is good but Android 10 is better. But, if you are game lover and a lover of graphics and Animation, then the Redmi phone will be the better phone for you. You might also want to consider the latest Android 10 installed in the Infinix phone.

Internal Storage and RAM

Both of these phones comes with a 6GB RAM and 128GB Internal Storage. But, the Infinix S5 Pro comes with a lower variant of 4GB RAM and 64GB Internal Storage while the Redmi Note 8 pro comes with a higher variant of 8GB RAM and 128GB Internal Storage. This is good as it gives users option to choose. There is also option for external storage via microSD card.

When it comes to storage, the bigger the numbers the better. So, the Redmi phone is better in this category as it does not just offer more storage space but also promises to offer more multi tasking powers.

Camera

The Infinix S series are known for their camera performance while the Redmi Note series is popular for lots of things including camera.

Redmi Note 8 Pro comes with a 64MP quad rear camera which is a big megapixel while the Infinix S5 pro comes with a 48MP triple rear camera. But in the front the Infinix S5 Pro comes with a 40MP pop up selfie camera while the Redmi Note 8 Pro comes with a 20MP pop up selfie camera.

It is true that the 64MP at the rear of the Redmi phone might beat the 48MP at the rear of the Infinix S5 Pro. But, how about the 40MP at the front of the Infinix phone that is twice bigger than the one of the Redmi phone?

The Redmi phone has more camera features than the Infinix phone though. It is capable of shooting 4K videos with gyro-EIS feature enabled. Talk about back camera and the Infinix phone is no match for the Redmi phone.

Battery

Infinix S5 Pro comes with 4000 mAh battery which is good but the 4500 mAh battery found the the Redmi Note 8 Pro is still better. The Redmi phone comes with 18W fast charge which is not available in the Tecno phone.

Prices

The price of Infinix S5 Pro 4GB RAM, 64GB ROM is N67,8000 Naira. While the price of Infinix S5 Pro 6GB RAM, 128GB ROM is N82,400 Naira. The price of the Redmi Note 8 Pro is About $215, ₦83,000 Naira (Lower Version) and $239, ₦92,000 Naira (higher version)

No doubt the INFINIX S5 Pro vs REDMI Note 8 Pro phones nice phones. Well they are produced by two good companies under different phone series. But, don’t miss out the features that sets them apart. These features are what will help you decide on which phone you should buy.
