Network Connectivity

Both phones gives you same features when it comes to internet connectivity. There is no 5G network available in both phones. They use 2G, 3G and 4G networks which is pretty standard judging the fact that 5G network is currently not available in many countries.

So, if you are looking for a reason to ditch your Redmi Note 8 pro, you won’t find any here in the Network connectivity category. You should expect same performance in this category.

Build, Design and Display

Talk about build and both of these Android phones also offer same features. They both have back and front Gorilla Glass 5 and a plastic frame. The display types of both phones are also same. They use an IPS LCD display with difference been the display sizes. Note 9 Pro comes with a 6.67 inch display which is bigger than the 6.53 inch display found in the Note 8 pro.

There is a huge difference in the design of both phones though. While the Note 8 Pro comes with a dew drop design, the Note 9 pro comes with a punch hole design at the middle. In truth, the Redmi Note 9 pro spots same design as the one found in the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 lite which looks very premium.

Major differences here is, the bigger display type and more premium design found in the Note 9 pro. So, a fan of big screen might start seen some reasons to for an upgrade here.

Operating System and Chipset

We know that the Note 9 pro is a newly released phone hence its coming with a more recent Android operating system, the Android 10. We know that Android 9 pie found in the Note 8 pro is very good but a new and improved Android 10 is definitely better.

Another feature that is setting these phones apart is the chipset. Note 8 pro comes with Mediatek Helio G90T (12nm) which is good but its no match for the Qualcomm SM7125 Snapdragon 720G (8 nm) found in the Note 9 pro.

In summary, the Note 9 pro is coming with a more improved Android OS, a better performing chipset, CPU and GPU. Hence we can expect faster processing of games and other related animations in the Note 9 pro. We should also expect a more interesting Android interface with the Note 9 pro.

Internal Storage and RAM

This category is a very tricky one. I mean, one would expect the Note 9 pro to come with a bigger RAM size but the reverse is the case. The Note 9 pro comes with 4GB/6GB RAM while the Note 8 pro comes with 6GB/8GB RAM variants. In truth, when it comes to RAM sizes, the bigger the better so Note 8 pro is better here.

Both phones does come with same internal storage of 64GB/128GB with an option of external storage via microSD card. The 8GB RAM of the Note 8 pro will definitely perform better than the 6GB RAM found in the Note 9 pro.

Camera

Both Xiaomi phones comes with a quad rear camera. But the advantage seem to be with the Note 8 pro that comes with a 64MP main shooter, 8MP ultrawide, 2MP macro and 2MP depth sensor. Redmi Note 9 pro comes with a 48MP main shooter, 8MP ultrawide, 5MP macro and 2MP depth sensor.

Up front, there is a 16MP for Redmi Note 9 pro for selfies while there is a 20MP camera for the Note 8 pro for selfies.
