Dell’s XPS 15 9520 and XPS 17 9720 comes with Intel 12th-gen processors and faster RAM. The company gave these refreshed windows laptops three new CPU options: Core i5-12500H, Core i7-12700H and Core i9-12900HK. The presence of the intel 12th-gen processors is the major change in both laptops.
Another notable change is that they both come with DDR5 memory at 4800MHz, up to 64GB. while storage is still of the PCIe4 x4 SSD variety and is max up to 4TB. The wattage of the GPU appears to be reduced a little, delivering 40W from the RTX 3050 Ti in the XPS 15 instead of 45W, and offering 60W from the RTX 3060 that’s in the XPS 17 rather 70W.

Display-wise, the XPS 15 9520 comes with an OLED display of 4K resolution. It is also available on an IPS LCD screen with the same 4K resolution. There’s a cheaper 1920 x 1200px non-touch version. While the XPS 17 9720 comes with an IPS LCD touchscreen with 4k resolution. The XPS 17 doesn’t have an OLED option and that’s because 4K OLED 17-inch displays just don’t exist yet.
The 12th-gen processors on both windows laptops are configured with Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 GPUs for the base 15-inch model, all the way up to an RTX 3060 for the 17-inch variant.

The Dell XPS 15 9520 price starts at $1,449 (CAD 1,799), while the XPS 17 9720 price starts at $1,849 (CAD 2,299). Both windows laptops are now available for purchase starting March 24, 2022.
