Google Pixel 4a: Google is set to release a more budget Google Pixel phone and its going to be called the Google Pixel 4a. Seems Google knows how to give their phones names unlike some other companies. But we know you won’t buy a phone based on how interesting the name sound, right? or maybe you might. Whichever the case, we are here to talk about the new Google phones.
The Google Pixel 4a is a mid-range Android phone produced by Google. It serves as alternative to the Google Pixel 4 flagship line from the company. How good is this new phone and should you even consider buying the phone. Well, we have an early specifications that might interest you.
Last year, the Google Pixel 4 and Google Pixel 4XL were good phone but they were not on the top flagship ends. This is for two main reasons. One, they were powered by a lower premium mid-range SOC instead of the flagship chipset. Two, the battery capacity of the phones were not so impressive. But they did have good camera quality.
Fast forward to mid 2020 and Google is releasing a more affordable Google Pixel phone. This seems like a good thing to do as Apple released the Apple iPhone SE 2020 which comes with a flagship SOC and might just be the cheapest and best compact phone of 2020 already. Well, except the incoming Google phone have what it takes to compete.
For Google phones to also stay relevant in the market, they also have to produce more affordable phones. I mean, its not the only top class that uses phone right? Me, you and others like us still needs to have a slice of these premium features.
Well, we have put together the complete features of the smartphone below (expected specifications). As always, we focus more on user experience and performance, hence we’ll be skipping all the technical grammars.
Just below the summary of the features is a table with the complete specifications of the Google Pixel 4a. You can also join our YouTube Community for unboxing and reviews of phones.
Specifications of Google Pixel 4a
Build and Display
The phone is coming with IPS LCD display type of size 5.81 inch which is pretty small going by most screen size recently. It’s display is having a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection which is good. Early renders also shows that the Pixel 4a comes with a dot in display.
When it comes to it’s build materials, you should expect to see a plastic back, glass front and an plastic frame. Well, these are not the best materials in the market but they are just okay for the mid-range phone.
Chipset, RAM and Internal Storage
Google have always powered their phones with a Qualcomm SOC. And the Pixel 4a might just be powered by the Qualcomm SDM730 Snapdragon 730 (8 nm). Well, this chipset is still a great performer even though its has been upgraded by Qualcomm.
There is an Octa-core (2×2.2 GHz Kryo 470 Gold & 6×1.8 GHz Kryo 470 Silver) CPU and Adreno 618 GPU present. The CPU and GPU are great and should be able to play heavy games without much hassles.
So far, the phone is expected to come in two variants of, 4GB RAM and 64GB Internal Storage, 4GB RAM and 128GB Internal Storage. The RAM size is relatively small but even Apple iPhone comes with lower RAM size, so it should be just fine. Ealry leaks have shown that there won’t be space from storage expansion via microSD card.
Talk about best camera phones and the list won’t be complete without a Google Pixel phone (for the past few years).
This phone is expected to have a single 12.2 MP rear camera. It will do all the jobs phones with quad rear cameras do. Its going to serve as your macro, ultrawide etc camera.
We are expecting to see features like, optical zoom, OIS, gyro-EIS and super steady video mode activated. There are lots of talking point about the phone camera but we just have to wait for officical release from Google to know better.
Upfront, the phone might come with an 8 MP placed in a punch hole at the top left of the screen. Which makes the phone looks very pretty good.
Software and Battery
The phone run out of the box Android 10 which is really good. Pixel 4a will likely be powered by a non removable 3080mAh battery with 18W fast charge feature enabled but no wireless charge enabled.
Charging the phone should not be much of a problem though. We have put together the full specifications of the Google Pixel 4a below.
