Display
The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra has a 6.8-inch QHD+ dynamic AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate enabled. The screen is a little curved to the edge, it is sharp, bright and color accurate. More so, the display is protected by corning Gorilla Glass victus, and it is water and dust resistant.
Google Pixel 6 Pro’s display is slightly smaller with 6.7-inch QHD+ LTPO OLED and 120Hz support. Just like the Galaxy S21 Ultra, the Pixel 6 Pro’s screen is slightly curved to the frame, while also being protected by Corning Gorilla Glass victus alongside an IP68 dust and water resistant.
Now let’s get one thing straight here. The displays on both smartphones are world class. However the sizes of the phones are different, the Pixel 6 Pro is more compact.
Camera
Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra brings a 108MP main camera, alongside a 10MP 10x optical zoom periscope lens, a 10MP 3x optical zoom tele lens and a 12MP ultrawide sensor. All of the cameras except the ultrawide lens comes with OIS. The front facing camera is 40MP and is capable of recording video in 4k resolution while the rear camera goes higher to record in 8K.
On the other hand, the Google Pixel 6 Pro is the new favorite kid in the block. It brings triple rear camera setup of which the primary shooter is 50MP with OIS feature, supported by a 48MP 4x optical zoom periscope telephoto lens, and a 12MP ultrawide lens. Upfront is a 11MP selfie camera. The Pixel 6 Pro can record video in 4K resolution max.
Overall, the cameras in both smartphones are versatile, however, the Google Pixel 6 Pro brings an improved ISP that recognizes all skin type be it white, colored or even black skin. There is also a feature called “magic eraser” that you can use to remove unwanted background objects from your photos anytime.
The Pixel 6 Pro is currently my best camera phone for photography but I’ll still go with the Galaxy S21 Ultra when it comes to video making.

Performance | Storage | RAM | 5G
These two smartphones are 5G enabled. However the Google Pixel 6 Pro is powered by an in-house Tensor chipset, paired with 12GB RAM and 128/256 GB storage. While the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset paired with 12/16GB RAM and 128 GB – 512GB storage.
In real live experience, the Pixel 6 Pro is good but the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra performance is better. While gaming with both devices, after some time the Pixel 6 Pro starts dropping in performance whereas the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra would still blaze.
Overall, the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra remains the king of Android performance. The Google Pixel 6 Pro Tensor chipset might get more improved by next year when the second gen is released but for now, the Galaxy S21 Ultra has better performance.
Software
The Pixel 6 Pro runs Android 12 software out of the box and Google has promised three years of major OS update and 5 years of security update for the pixel device. Similar promise Samsung has for the Galaxy S21 Ultra only that it runs Android 11 out of the box.
Battery
Both devices have 5,000 mAh battery capacity with the Google Pixel 6 Pro getting 30W fast charge support, while the Galaxy S21 Ultra supports 25W.
These two devices can conveniently serve you for at least 7 hours screen on time (which is a full day+ battery life).
