Display and Durability

The display of the vivo X Fold 2 is bigger and taller than that of the Pixel Fold. The Pixel Fold has a 7.6-inch inner display while the X Fold 2 has an 8.03-inch inner display. The Pixel Fold also has a 5.8-inch outer display which is smaller than the 6.53-inch outer display of the X Fold 2 foldable phone.

The display panel of both smartphones is foldable AMOLED with support for 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+. However, the design of the display is different. While the Pixel Fold has big bezels, the vivo X Fold 2 has slimmer bezels with a simple punch hole on the top center of the screen. The display of the X Fold 2 looks better than that of the Pixel Fold.

The Pixel Fold is however more durable than the X Fold 2 foldable phone. The Pixel Fold is confirmed to have IPX8 water-resistant feature which is not confirmed for the X Fold 2. Both smartphones have good hinge systems but going by design and display, the vivo X Fold 2 is my preferred device here.

Chipset: Performance and Gaming

When it comes to performance, the vivo X Fold 2 is better than the Pixel Fold and this is because of the chipset inside. The chipset inside the vivo X Fold is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 while the chipset in the Pixel Fold is the Google Tensor G2. The chipset in the vivo X Fold has faster CPU cores and a more powerful GPU and this makes it has better performance than the Pixel Fold.

Both smartphones support 5G network connectivity but the vivo X Fold is faster and smoother than the Pixel Fold when processing data, rendering graphics, and playing graphics-intensive games. Don’t get it wrong, the Pixel Fold has a very good performance but the performance of the X Fold 2 is just better on every level.

Camera: Photography and Videography

The camera sensors on both smartphones are different. The Pixel Fold has a 48MP main camera, a 10.8MP ultra-wide camera, 10.8MP telephoto lens, an 8MP front camera on the inner screen, and a 9.5MP camera on the outer screen. In contrast, the vivo X Fold 2 has a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, a 12MP telephoto lens, a 16MP front camera on the inner screen, and a 16MP camera on the outer screen.

The rear camera of the vivo X Fold 2 can record videos in 8K resolution which some will find very useful than the 4K video resolution on the Pixel Fold. Both smartphones support OIS and Laser Auto-Focus but the vivo X Fold 2 features Zeiss optics and Zeiss T* lens coating to improve the colors of photos.

The Google Pixel Fold does have better camera software and takes really nice photos. But, I still prefer the camera setup and camera features available in the vivo X Fold 2 to those of the Pixel Fold. Both smartphones are great camera foldable phones but I’d recommend the X Fold 2 as a better camera phone than the Pixel Fold.

Battery and Charging

The battery inside the vivo X Fold 2 is a 4,800mAh cell which is slightly smaller than the 4,821mAh cell inside the Pixel Fold. Both the vivo X Fold 2 and Pixel Fold support wireless charging but only the vivo X Fold 2 supports 120W wired fast charging.

Both phones are good battery phones and you can easily get more than 8 hours of screen time with both smartphones. I constantly got about 20% of the battery left after using both phones every day. I prefer the vivo X Fold 2 as a better battery phone because it has a faster wired and wireless charging system.

Software and other features

The Pixel Fold and vivo X Fold 2 boots Android 13 out of the box. The vivo X Fold 2 will get two years of software updates while the Pixel Fold will get three years of software updates.

None of these phones has space for a 3.5mm headphone jack and microSD card. But both phones feature stereo speakers, USB Type-C 3.2, OTG, NFC, Ultra Wideband (UWB) support, etc.
