Display and Durability

The first difference between both foldable phones is the display size as the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 is bigger than the Google Pixel Fold. While the Pixel Fold has a 7.6-inch inner display, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 has an 8.02-inch inner display and while the Pixel Fold has a 5.54-inch cover display, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 has a bigger 6.56-inch cover display.

The display panel of both smartphones is foldable OLED and has support for 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+. However, the design of the display is different. The Pixel Fold has big bezels while the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 has slim bezels. The display of the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 looks better than that of the Pixel Fold.

Although both phones have aluminum frame, only the Pixel Fold is certified to be IPX8 water resistant. This extra durability feature makes the Pixel Fold more appealing than the Mix Fold 2 but the big bezels of around the display of the Pixel Fold is a big L for most users.

Chipset: Performance and Gaming

The Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 has a better performance than the Google Pixel Fold and this is because of the chipset inside. The Mix Fold 2 features the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset which has faster CPU cores and is paired with a more powerful GPU than the Tensor G2 chipset in the Pixel Fold.

Both smartphones support 5G network connectivity but when it comes to playing games and rendering graphics, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 is smoother and faster than the Pixel Fold.

Camera: Photography and Videography

The camera sensors on both smartphones are different. The Pixel Fold has a 48MP main camera, a 10.8MP ultra-wide camera, 10.8MP telephoto lens, an 8MP front camera on the inner screen, and a 9.5MP camera on the outer screen. In contrast, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 has a 50MP main camera, a 13MP ultra-wide camera, an 8MP telephoto lens, and a 20MP camera on the outer screen.

The Google Pixel Fold is a better camera phone than the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2. The Pixel Fold has features like OIS and Laser AF and it can shoot 4K videos using its back and front camera. In contrast, the Mix Fold does has OIS but does not have Laser AF and only its back camera can recorder videos in 4K resolution.

The Pixel Fold also has more camera features and viodeo recording features than the Mix Fold 2. If you need a foldable phone to take photos and record videos between these two, I recommend you buy the Pixel Fold instead of the Mix Fold 2.

Battery and Charging

The battery inside the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 is a 4,500mAh cell which is smaller than the 4,821mAh cell inside the Pixel Fold. Both the Pixel Fold support fast charging through USB Type-C port but only the Pixel Fold supports wireless charging.

The battery inside both phones can last you for a long time. However, while the Pixel Fold offers the more convienent wireless charging, the Xioami Mix Fold 2 offers faster 66W wired charging. It takes less time to fully charge the battery of the Mix Fold 2.

Software and other features

The Pixel Fold boots Android 13 out of the box while the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 boots Android 12 out of the box. The Pixel Fold will get three years of software updates while the Xiaomi Mix Fold will get two.

The retail price of the Google Pixel Fold and Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 is $1,799. But the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 currently has $300 off its price thanks to the discount offer from Giztop. So, technically, the Mix Fold 2 is cheaper than the Pixel Fold.

Google Pixel Fold vs Xiaomi Mix Fold 2: Verdict

The Google Pixel Fold and Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 are very good foldable phones. Both foldable phones have nice displays, nice hinges, big battery, good cameras, and nice software. But, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 is cheaper, has better performance, and slimmer bezels.

For the price, I would have recommeded the Pixel Fold ahead of the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2. However, if you have the money, then buy the Pixel Fold for its advance camera system and IPX8 water resistant feature. Otherwise, I say buy the Mix Fold 2, save money, and get a better peformance while enjoying your foldable phone.
