The Honor 80 Pro is an affordable premium smartphone from Honor. It is the successor to the Honor 70 Pro that was released a few months back. Honor 80 Pro features a 160MP main camera and a high-performing 5G chipset from Qualcomm. To know more about this phone, let’s break down the key specifications of this device starting with the chipset, CPU, and GPU.

Chipset, CPU, and GPU

The Honor 80 Pro features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. This is a 5G chipset built on TSMC’s 4nm process technology and features an Octa-core processor. The chipset has an Octa-core CPU with a maximum speed clocked at 3.00GHz. The CPU cores are made of one Cortex-X2 (performance core), three Cortex-A710 (prime cores), and three Cortex-A510 (efficiency cores).

The CPU cores are paired with the Adreno 730 GPU and the chipset in this phone features the Qualcomm Spectra ISP, the Qualcomm Hexagon Tensor AI engine, and Snapdragon X65 5G Modem-RF System. Using the ISP, this phone can encode and decode videos in 8K resolution, play graphics-intensive games, and supports NFC, LPDDR4x RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, etc.

Cameras

Honor 80 Pro features a triple rear camera system and a dual front camera. On the rear, it has a 160MP primary camera that is supported by a 50MP telephoto lens that has AutoFocus feature and a 2MP depth sensor. Upfront it has 50MP + 2MP dual cameras and the 50MP front camera can record videos in 4K resolution.

Like the 50MP front camera, the 160MP primary camera can also record videos in 4K resolution. Other camera features include Night mode, portrait mode, LED dual-tone flash, AutoFocus, HDR, panorama, gyro-EIS, HDR10, etc.

Display, Design, and Durability

The Honor 80 Pro has a 6.78-inch curved OLED display with QHD resolution (1224 x 2700 pixels). The display supports a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10, and a peak brightness of 1000 nits. The phone is made of a Glass front, glass back or ceramic back, and aluminum frame.

The front screen is curved on both sides and has a center pill shape cutout on the top screen. On the rear, it has a camera module where the three rear camera sensors are placed. The volume rocker and power button are on the right side of the frame of the phone. Its microphone, stereo speaker grill, and USB Type-C charging port are on the bottom of the frame.

The dimension of the phone measure about 163.3 x 74.9 x 7.8mm (6.43 x 2.95 x 0.31 in) and it weighs about 188g (6.63oz). It has Dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by) and stereo speakers but has no space for a microSD card and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

RAM, Storage, and Battery

The Honor 80 Pro comes in three storage configurations. It has 8GB + 256GB, 12GB + 256GB, and 12GB + 512GB storage versions. There is no microSD card slot for users to expand storage but users can always make use of cloud storage services when storage is full.

A 4,800mAh battery powers the phone and it has support for 66W wired fast charging and 5W reverse wired charging but has no wireless charging. It’ll take about 30 minutes to charge the battery from 0 to 100% using the 66W wired charger.

Software and Other Features

The Honor 80 Pro boots Magic UI 7 based on Android 12 out of the box. This phone is expected to get about three years of software updates. You can download and install apps from the Google Play Store on this phone and even download major updates over OTA.

The Honor 80 Pro Price is about $599 for the model with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The models with 12GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB storage are sold for $699 and $799 respectively. This phone will be available in Pink, Blue, Green, and Black colors.

The Honor 80 Pro price in Canada starts at about CA$799 for the 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage option while the models with 12GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB sell for CA$899 and C$999 in Canada.
