The Huawei AppGallery is the official online store for Huawei devices. While Android users make use of Google Play store, Huawei users make use of Huawei AppGallery to install Apps for their devices.
We all know that the USA ban on Huawei also stopped them from using Google Mobile Services (GMS). With the Biden Administration coming into office, Huawei Founder was hopeful they’ll be more flexible compared to the Trump administration.

Even though the USA ban is still in place, Huawei has recorded some impressive growth. On March 1, Huawei released some data that shows user interaction in their main application, the Huawei AppGallery.
According to Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Consumer BG, he shared that Huawei’s app store (Huawei AppGallery) now have over 530 million monthly active users. And this is about 83% annual growth in in-app distribution and number of app installs in 2020. The figure is expected to reach 384 billion within the next year.

The data also added that over 2.3 million developers are actively programming mobile applications for the Huawei AppGallery. And this is over 77% increase when compared to 2019 data.
Also, at the end of 2019, more than 1 million AppGallery users were active in more than 25 countries but the number has now grown to 42 million.
According to Zhang She, director of global cooperation CBG, the number of applications optimized for Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) has more than doubled within a year.

With this level of growth, Huawei can now turn it’s focus to its Harmony OS and how to make it available globally and for older Huawei devices.
