Huawei P40 Pro Specifications: Huawei is gradually down playing the importance of Google services as they launched a new series of Huawei flagship phones without the Google services. It seems that Huawei is getting good at this and maybe, just maybe bypassing Google won’t be such a bad idea. But, what should we expect from this new Huawei P40 series?
The new Huawei P40 Pro is the second most premium among all the three Huawei P40 series released by the company. It is just under the radar of the Huawei P40 Pro Plus and just above the Huawei P40. It does have same display size with the pro plus version but is one camera short of its standard.

We won’t focus on how Huawei is planning on surviving without Google and all its related services but we can say so far they are doing a good job. But do you think there might be an Android App store that will compete with the Google Playstore? Maybe the Huawei App store might just bring the competition for Google. Who knows, its the Smartphone world and anything is possible.
Anyway, the above is just a speculation given the fact that Huawei now have an App Gallery that comes with this new Huawei phone. I guess not using Google services has given them an alternative. Back to business of complete specifications of this new camera phone from Huawei.

Huawei P40 Pro Build and Display
The build of the phone is Glass front, cerramic back, cerramic frame with an OLED display type. It comes with a huge display size of 6.58 inches and it has a resolution of 1200 x 2640 pixels (~441 ppi density). Other features of the display includes; DCI-P3, HDR10 and 90Hz. It also has a rating for dust and water resistant.
This phone is a beauty to behold. And it feels very sleek when you hold it in your hands. It’s size is not that big for a Pro version as it can easily fit into your pocket and hands. The cerramic back and frame is one of a kind and its pretty cool quite different from the aluminum materials.

Huawei P40 Pro Chipset, RAM and Internal Storage
It comes with Huawei own HiSilicon chipset, the HiSilicon Kirin 990 5G (7 nm+) a great chipset in number of ways. For processing data, the phone uses Octa-core 2×2.86 GHz Cortex-A76, 2×2.36 GHz Cortex-A76 for processing data and 1.95 GHz Cortex-A55 for power efficiency.
The phone comes in a single variant of 8GB RAM and 256GB Internal Storage and there is also a space for external storage via microSD card. This is relatively good as more files can be saved and the phone can process more data with the installed RAM size. If you manage to fill up the internal storage, then you have the option of external storage up to 256GB via microSD card.
Huawei P40 Pro Camera
Well, taking away Google services does not mean taking away camera. And Huawei gave users a strong reason why they should consider buying the new Huawei phone. Its not very often we see Android Phones with camera quality considered to be better than those of Apple iPhone and Samsung Galaxy Phones.
It comes with a main shooter of 50MP with its sensors at 1/1.28 beating the 1/1.33 sensor found in the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra. Can the Huawei 50MP with bigger sensor beat the 108MP of the Samsung Galaxy in a photo contest? We’ll just to have to wait for a camera test to confirm.
There is also a 12MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom feature, 40MP ultrawide and a TOF 3D cameras at the back. The cameras comes with some features such as; omnidirectional PDAF, OIS and gyro-EIS in video mode.

Up front the phone uses a 32 megapixel dual camera placed in a somewhat big punch hole at the top left screen. The front and back cameras can take awesome photos and even shoot 4K videos.
Huawei P40 Pro Software and Battery
The phone run out of the box Android 10.0 (AOSP + HMS) where AOSP refers to Android Open Source Project and HMS refers to Huawei Mobile Services. It also accompanied by the EMUI 10.1 graphical user interface. Powered by a 4200mAh with fast charge and wireless charge features enabled. The phone might not be coming with Google Services supports but don’t write it off at least not yet. You should see its water fall display on all four sides then have a taste of how its EMUI is seamlessly blends with the Android 10. Having Google services would have been incredible but Huawei is proving they can survive without those services.
The Huawei P40 Pro is yet to be announced for sale in the global market. But, in its most expensive variant, it is expected to cost about N405,000. As at now we can not say for sure if the phone will be sold in the Nigeria market. We’ll update this post when there is any news regarding this phone availability in the market.
