Huawei P50 Pro has a 6.6″ Full HD+ curved OLED touchscreen with a resolution of 1,228×2,700 pixels and a high refresh rate of 120Hz and 300Hz touch sampling rate.

While the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra has a 6.8″ WQHD+ curved Dynamic AMOLED touchscreen with 120Hz refresh rate enabled. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus (world’s toughest screen protection). Brightness level can max up to 1500 nits.

Overall, the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra has a sharper display. And for the record, both devices are water and dust resistants.


In terms of camera setup, Huawei P50 Pro has 50MP main snapper aided by 64MP periscope telephoto lens + 13MP ultrawide camera and 40MP black/white sensor. Upfront is a 13MP selfie camera.
Features of the camera include: Leica optics, optical image stabilization, PDAF, 3.5x optical zoom, Laser AF and can record video in 4k resolution.

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra has quad rear cameras. 108MP primary shooter that is supported by a 10MP periscope telephoto + another 10MP 3x optical zoom telephoto and a 12MP ultrawide lens. The selfie camera is 40MP.
Features of the camera are: PDAF, optical image stabilization, Laser AF, 10x optical zoom and can record video is 8K resolution.

So which of these two smartphones has a better camera? A fair answer would be; both have world class cameras for photography and videography. However, when it comes to selfie, the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra front camera is better.

Huawei P50 Pro is powered by Snapdragon 888 4G chipset or you can opt for the Kirin 9000 4G model. Either case, the Huawei P50 Pro only exist is 4G version. And it is Paired with 8/12GB RAM with 128/256GB or 512GB storage options.

On the other hand, Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is powered by Snapdragon 888 5G chipset. Paired with 12/16GB RAM + 128/256GB or 512GB storage options.

Thus, when it comes to performance of both devices, the major difference is 5G network availability. Galaxy S21 Ultra is the only one here with the next gen connectivity.


Once again, here is another key difference between both smartphones. The Huawei P50 Pro runs HarmonyOS 2.0 software out of the box. Since the US ban won’t allow it to use the Google Mobile Services. Making the smartphone uneasy to use outside China.

However, Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra runs Android 11 out of the box. And has full access to Google Mobile Services.


Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra packs 5,000 mAh battery capacity with 25W fast charge. The battery here is long lasting than that of Hauwei P50 Pro with 66W fast charge enabled.

At the moment, on Amazon, the Galaxy S21 Ultra 12/128GB model is priced $830. While the Huawei P50 Pro can be found around $899 for the baseline variant.

It is very difficult to recommend the Huawei P50 Pro for those living outside China. While the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra continues to dominate the tech space.

So if I’m to score both smartphones by percentage. I’ll score the Huawei P50 Pro (44%) while Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra gets (56%).
