Huawei release HMS Core 6.0 for global markets, to compete with Google’s GMS

Since the US ban – which stops Huawei phones from using GMS -, Huawei has been improving its HMS Core (Huawei Mobile Services). The HMS Core is an alternative to Google’s GMS (Google Mobile Services). Huawei and Honor smartphones and tablets that can’t use GMS will use HMS.

According to the company, the HMS Core 6.0 is now available for the Global Markets. This new HMS Core 6.0 will compete with GMS now that is available for everyone.

At the Huawei Developer Day held last month, the Chinese tech giant released the HMS Core 6.0 in China. Few weeks down the road, the new version of the HMS is now made available for the Global market by the company.

As per the official press release, the latest version of HMS Core brings improvements for media, graphics, telecommunications, and others. The firm says that it has rolled out the HMS Core 6.0 APK for all devices. Hence, developers can start utilizing the newly introduced features.

According to the press release from Huawei, the latest version of HMS Core is bringing improvements for media, graphics, telecommunications, etc. Huawei also said that it has rolled out the HMS Core 6.0 APK for all devices. Hence, developers can start utilizing the newly introduced features.

There is also some improvements said to be coming to media with the latest HMS Core 6.0. For example, the AV Pipeline Kit now provides preset pipelines for video super-resolution, sound event detection, and other media services.

As per graphics, the 3D Modeling Kit offers AI-based capabilities such as 3D object reconstruction and material generation using RGB camera for e-commerce as well as animation apps.

Also, the Computer Graphics Kit brings a new “volumetric fog” feature, which helps in making indoor scenes more realistic for next-gen mobile games. This feature requires support for Vulkan.

For telecommunications, the Network Kit comes with an updated AI-powered network environment prediction function. This is said to reduce apps’ network latency by more than 20%.

Lastly, the HMS Core 6.0 also arrives with new services like Membership Kit, Video Editor Kit, and Audio Editor Kit. These improvements shows that Huawei is not backing down of smartphone business.

And like it or not, the introduction of HMS Core 6.0 to the global market means GMS now has another competition in the market. So, should Google be worried?
