Price and Availability
The Ryzen 7 7700X was announced by AMD on August 29th, 2022 for an MSRP of $399. While the Intel Core i7-13700k was launched in September 2022 and has an MSRP of $493. Going with the retail prices, the AMD Ryzen 7 7700X is more affordable.
And regarding their availability, both processors (Intel core i7-13700k vs AMD Ryzen 7 7700X) are now available for purchase. You can use the box at the bottom of this post to buy either of them.
Socket Compatibility
Since both processors are from different manufacturers, their sockets/motherboards are different. The AMD Ryzen 7 7700X uses the AM5 motherboard and is not compatible with the previous AM4 platform.
In contrast, the Intel Core i7-13700k is compatible with both Z690 and Z790 motherboards while using the same LGA1700 socket as the previous generation. So technically, setting up the Intel processor is cheaper.

Gaming Performance
We paired both processors with a flagship graphics card- Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090. And in a Six games average per second comparison (at 1080p Ultra settings), the Intel Core i7-13700k had 7% better performance than the AMD Ryzen 7 7700X. Below, You can see how both CPUs performed on each of the six games tested.

And then we also tested 1440p gaming by pairing both CPUs with the Nvidia RTX 4090 graphics card. However, for some reason, we could only test three games in this category. So in a three games average per second comparison (at 1440p Ultra settings), the Intel Core i7 13th-Gen was 5% better than the AMD Ryzen 7 7700X. Below are the breakdowns.

Performance Benchmark
The Intel Core i7 13th-Gen is slightly ahead of the AMD Ryzen 7 7700X when it comes to gaming performance. But in other scenarios, like in the raw performance test, the Intel Core i7 13th-Gen is superior because of its higher thread and core counts.
To be specific, the AMD Ryzen 7 7700X has 8-cores and 16-Threads with a 5.4 GHz boost clock frequency. In contrast, the Intel Core i7-13700k features 16-cores and 24-Threads with a boost clock speed of 5.4GHz.
On Cinebench R23, the AMD Ryzen 7 7700X scored 2001 points in a single-core test and 19,927 points in a multi-core test, while the Intel Core i7-13700k had 2107 points in a single-core and 30,880 multi-core. Thus, in comparison, the Intel Core i7-13700k is 5% better in single-core and 50% in multicore than the Ryzen 7 7700X. Additionally, both processors have integrated graphics.
