EU’s standard for SAR (Specific Absorption Rate) is 4.0 watts per kilogram while the iPhone 12 was found to have a SAR of 5.74 W/kg. That was the primary reason for the ban a few weeks ago.

However, according to a new report from the National Frequency Agency (ANFR), a new software update pushed by Apple has lowered the SAR to 3.94W/kg. The press release reads “It is now up to Apple to distribute the new update to all iPhone 12 users in France”.
