The iPhone SE 2022 comes with a 4.7-inch display, IPC LCD panel, and a peak brightness of 625 nits. It has a 750 x 1334 pixels resolution and is protected by Ion-strengthened glass with an oleophobic coating. Its build material is Glass front, glass back, and aluminum frame. The device is also water and dust resistant with a certified IP67 rating. iPhone SE 2022 has a big notch and big chin where the touch ID button is located.

In contrast, the Realme 9 Pro+ comes with a 6.67-inch display, AMOLED panel, has support for 90Hz refresh rate and HDR10 support. It has a 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution and its peak brightness is 600 nits. Its build material is Glass front (Gorilla Glass 5), glass back, and plastic frame. The display of the device is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It has a punch hole on the screen and has small bezels and chin compared to the iPhone SE 2022.
The display and design of both phones show that the iPhone SE 2022 is more compact, has more durability features, but has an old design tone to it. While the Realme 9 Pro+ has a bigger display, faster refresh rate, more colorful display, a more modern design, but has limited durability features. When it comes to cameras the iPhone SE 2022 has a single rear and front camera. At the rear, it has a 12MP main camera with OIS and at the front, it features a 7MP selfie camera. The rear camera can shoot videos in 4k resolution and it has gyro-EIS for video stabilization.
The Realme 9 Pro+ features a triple rear camera set-up and a single front camera. It has a 50MP main camera with PDAF and OIS features, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 2MP macro lens, and a 16MP selfie camera. The rear camera of the Realme 9 Pro+ can also shoot videos in 4k resolution and has gyro-EIS video stabilization.
The rear camera sensor inside the iPhone SE 2022 is really good. It can take incredible photos and videos but the Sony IMX766 camera sensor of the Realme 9 Pro+ is a good match. The quality of photos and videos from both phones are top-notch and so I’ll just call this one a draw.

The performance of both smartphones is very different. The chipset inside the iPhone SE 2022 is the Apple A15 Bionic built on the 5nm process technology. While the chipset inside the Realme 9 Pro+ is the MediaTek Dimensity 920 5G built on the 6nm process technology. The Dimensity 920 5G is a chipset with very good performance. But, it’s no match for the A15 Bionic when it comes to performance and power efficiency.
The chipset inside the iPhone SE 2022 is at least 10x faster and 15x more power-efficient compared to the chipset inside the Realme 9 Pro+. Both phones have support for 5G network connectivity.

The RAM inside iPhones SE 2022 is 4GB RAM and the storage options are 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB. The RAM inside the Realme 9 Pro+ is 6/8GB RAM and the storage options are 128GB and 256GB. Both phones have no room for storage expansion via microSD card but only the Realme 9 Pro+ has a 3.5mm jack port.
When it comes to gaming, overall performance, and power efficiency, the iPhone SE 2022 is better than the Realme 9 Pro+. It beats the Realme phone in every aspect. The iPhone SE 2022 features a more powerful GPU, more powerful CPU, a better ISP, and a better Neural engine.

The iPhone SE 2022 boots Apple iOS 15.3 out of the box. Apple has promised years of major software updates and security patches. The Realme 9 Pro+ boots Realme UI 3.0 based on Android 12 out of the box. The Realme phone will get at least two years of major software updates and three years of monthly security patches.

iPhone SE 2022 vs Realme 9 Pro Plus: Verdict
So, between the Apple iPhone SE 2022 and Realme 9 Pro+ which is better? This choice comes to what you do most with your smartphone but I’ll still pick the Realme 9 Pro+ ahead of the iPhone SE 2022. Allow me to explain.
The iPhone SE 2022 is no doubt the most powerful phone between these two. Its A15 Bionic chipset is unmatched and it has a better software policy. And if you need a powerful compact and durable phone, the iPhone SE 2022 is the way to go.
But, the Realme 9 Pro+ brings so much value for the price. It has a more colorful display, faster display, twice the RAM, twice the storage, 3.5mm jack port, very good camera with more camera options, and decent chipset. Think about it, it’ll take less time for you to run out of storage with the 64GB storage model of the iPhone SE 2022. Whereas you get 128GB storage as the base model of the Realme 9 Pro+.
If I’m to score both phones, I’ll score the iPhone SE 2022 (48%) and the Realme 9 Pro+ (52%). The price, extra RAM, extra storage, and display make the Realme 9 Pro+ the better value for money phone here.
