The Snapdragon 898 chip is expected to be the successor of the Snapdragon 888 chip. Qualcomm is expected to announce this next flagship chipset for mobile devices via its Tech Summit event in December. We’ve heard some rumors about this chip before but new key specs just surfaced online.

A popular tipster, Digital Chat Station has shared an image of an unknown phone powered by the Snapdragon 898 chip. From the image he shared, the phone was running a benchmarking app named Device Info HW. This app confirms some of the key specs of the Snapdragon 898 chip.

As one can see in the image, the Snapdragon 898 chip has the model number sm8450. This chip has a tri-cluster architecture featuring Cortex X2 prime core working at 3.0GHz. It also features three Cortex-A710 cores working at 2.5Ghz, and four Cortex-A510 power-efficient cores clocking at 1.79GHz.

For graphics rendering, the chip is paired with the Adreno 730 GPU. Although it can’t be confirmed from the leak image, previous reports have claimed that the new chipset will feature the Snapdragon X65 5G modem that is said to offer 10Gbps of downlink speeds.
We don’t know the device using the chip in the image. But, Xiaomi and Vivo are expected to be among the first OEMs to use this chip in their smartphones. With the Samsung Galaxy S22 and ZTE Nubia gaming phones to also feature this chipset.
