LG Velvet vs iPhone SE 2020: So today we have decided to talk about two odd phones. I mean two good odd phones. Truth is, we don’t see LG making phones very often and we don’t see Apple producing budget phone very often. So when i said odd you should understand what i mean.

This post is about comparing the newly released LG Velvet and the iPhone SE 2020. We’ll be talking about their similarities (we doubt if there is any) and the differences (we know there are allot). At the end you get to decide which on is better and worth your dollar.

Just so you understand that the biggest advantage of these phones could also be their biggest disadvantage. And their differences might bring mixed reactions depending how you like using your phone.

Network Connectivity

The LG Velvet is a 5G enabled smartphone while the iPhone SE 2020 only has 4G. Well, except you have 5G network in your region then you won’t consider this as an advantage. Or maybe you like having a 5G network laying idle in your phone. Anyways, the differences starts from here.

So, for those who would love 5G network the LG Velvet will be just want you need. However, there are more to smartphones than just 5G network. You might want to consider knowing more about these two phones side by side.

Build, Design and Display

Same materials were used when building these two phones. Both phones was built with Glass front (Gorilla Glass)
glass back (Gorilla Glass 6), aluminum frame. But you will notice a huge difference in the designs of both phones.

The iPhone SE 2020 comes with very big bezer just like other Apple iPhones. But, the LG phone comes with a very slim bezer which is quite popular with Android Phones these days. There is also a dew drop or cut out notch at the middle of the LG Velvet that houses the selfie camera.

Talk about display and there is also some really big difference here. LG Velvet comes with bigger screen size of 6.67 Amoled display. While the iPhone SE 2020 comes with a small 4.7 Retinal LCD display. For more color and brightness, the LG Velvet is slightly better.

We have the LG Velvet with big display, more premium design and brighter display which a gamer and movie lover would love. On the other hand is the iPhone SE 2020 small display, which is very suitable for one hand operation. Which of these two display best suits you?

Operating System and Chipset

If you have read and watched the tussle of who has the best OS and SOC between iPhone and Android Phones then you should know this category is going to be a tough one. Both phones runs on latest operating system from Apple (iOS 13) and Android (Android 10).

The differences continues in the SOC section. LG Velvet comes with Qualcomm SDM765 Snapdragon 765G (7 nm) while the iPhone SE 2020 comes with Apple A13 Bionic (7 nm+). Snapdragon 765G is good but not on same level with the A13 Bionic.

A closer look at the CPU cores shows how the iPhone SE 2020 is better here. LG Velvet uses octa-core 2.4 (1x2.4 GHz Kryo 475 Prime & 1x2.2 GHz Kryo 475 Gold & 6x1.8 GHz Kryo 475 Silver) while the iPhone SE 2020 uses Hexa-core (2×2.65 GHz Lightning + 4×1.8 GHz Thunder). From the areas made bold above, you’ll see that the iPhone SE 2020 has 2 faster cores which will give it performance boost ahead of the LG Velvet.

In this category, the SOC of the LG Velvet is good but that of the iPhone SE 2020 is better. Both phones can perform play heavy duty games but the LG Velvet is more likely to lag behind the iPhone.

Internal Storage and RAM

So far, the LG Velvet comes in a single variant of 8GB RAM and 128GB Internal Storage while the iPhone SE 2020 comes with a 3GB RAM and 64,128GB/256GB Internal Storage. The LG phone have space for external storage via microSD card but the Apple phone does not support this feature.

The iPhone offer bigger internal storage option but the LG phone makes up for this with its external storage option via microSD card. But, the 8GB RAM of the LG Velvet is worthy of mention.

Camera

Apple phones are known to have incredible cameras. I don’t know how the new LG Velvet will compete with this but we have to wait for live test to confirm this. But, from the paper specifications, the iPhone will shoot better photos. While the LG phone will offer more camera options.

Battery

iPhone SE 2020 comes with 1821 mAh battery which is poor and the 4300 mAh battery found the the LG Velvet battery is far better. Both phones comes with fast charge feature enabled.

Prices

The LG Velvet is expected to cost about $700 while the price of the iPhone SE 2020 is about $400. This massive difference in price can be seen from the size of these two phones.

Who would have thought that a $400 phone will stand up to a $700 phone. But then again considering what LG is bringing to the table it might just be worth paying the extra $300.

This LG Velvet vs iPhone SE 2020 is quite interesting. The Apple iPhone SE 2020 is fast, more compact and suitable for one hand operation.
