MediaTek Dimensity 7200: MediaTek is committed to bringing high performance to affordable smartphones. The MediaTek Dimensity 8200 5G chipset has been tested to be one of the best chipsets in a 2023 mid-range phone, but the company has more in store. MediaTek has announced the release of the Dimensity 7200 5G chipset which will feature in more affordable phones.

The MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chipset is not as powerful as the Dimensity 8200 but it sure brings some major improvements. It’s the first 4nm process chipset from MediaTek chipset that will be available in affordable mid-range phones. Below are the key specs of the Dimensity 7200 and important features you should note.

Process Technology & Power Management

The MediaTek Dimensity 8700 5G chipset is built on the 2nd generation of TSMC’s 4nm process technology and thus is very power efficient. The chipset is equipped with 6 efficiency cores with a speed clocked at 2.00GHz.

It s important to note that from our experiences using smartphones, the cooling system used by a phone maker to cool down the chipset also improves phone efficiency. So, the power management and efficiency of this chipset will also rely on to some reasonable extent the level of cooling of the smartphone it powers.

The Dimensity 7200 chipset is an 8-core processing chipset (2 performance cores and 6 efficiency cores). It has two Arm-Cortex-A715 performance cores and six Arm-Cortex-A510 efficiency cores. The performance cores have a speed of 2.80GHz while the efficiency cores have a speed of 2.0GHz.

The chipset also features the ARM Mali-G610 MC4 GPU and which is paired with HyperEngine 5.0. HyperEngine 5.0 is MediaTeks gaming technology that helps process graphics and allows the GPU to work better. My experience using the iQOO Neo 7 SE confirms that the HyperEngine tech from MediaTek does a petty decent job.
