MediaTek Helio G99: The MediaTek Helio G99 chipset is an advancement of the LTE-only Helio G96, built on the 6nm platform, instead of 12nm. It has an octa-core CPU and support for Full HD+ display with up to 120Hz screen refresh rate. The first low midrange smartphone to use this chipset will arrive as early as Q3 2022.
The MediaTek Helio G99 features are pair of Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.2GHz and six A55 cores up to 2.0GHz. However, its GPU is only a Mali-G57 MC2, a clear downgrade from the G76 MC4 that came with its last two-generation (Helio G95). It’s a shame that the Helio G99 chipset doesn’t support 5G connectivity, plus the GPU is weak compared to its last two generation.
