Recent report from IDC indicates that MediaTek is focusing on the budget and mid-range segments. And this has started bearing fruits as they have bigger market share in Q3 2020 compared to Qualcomm. However, Qualcomm still leads the global smartphone AP market when it comes to revenue share.

The major reason why MediaTek has enjoyed bigger market share than its US counterpart is due to its mid-range segments 5G chipsets. They’re all affordable and more companies used them over last year. This is a trend the Taiwanese company hope to continue in 2021.
