Motorola has announced two new premium smartphones. One is the Motorola Edge 30 which is the first smartphone to feature the newly announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip. The second is the Motorola Edge S30 with the improved Snapdragon 888+ 5G chip inside.
Along with these to phones, the company also released a third phone. This is the special edition of the Moto Edge X30 that features the UD tech or under-display camera tech.

Motorola Edge X30
The Motorola Edge 30 features very impressive display. It comes with a 6.8-inch OLED display, FHD+ resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. The regular version features a 60MP selfie camera placed in a punch hole while the special edition has its 60MP camera under the screen.
With this slight difference, it’ll be interesting to know which of the two users will prefer when the phone starts shipping. The displays on both Edge X30 phones output 10bit color and HDR10+ content natively.

According to testing done by Motorola, the chipset inside the Edge X30 offers 20% better CPU performance and 30% better GPU performance. The biggest jump is in AI tasks, the test shows that the device offers 400% improvement over the Snapdragon 888+ chip.

At the rear, the device features a 50MP main camera with OmniVision’s OV50A 1/1.55-inch sensor with OIS. It has 2.0μm sized pixels when 4in1 pixel binning is applied. There is also a 50MP ISOCELL S5KGM1 ultra-wide shooter while the third sensor is 2MP depth of field module.
Motorola Edge 30 has a 5,000mAh battery with 68W wired charging support it runs Android 12 out of the box. You can expect to get at least two years of software updates.

The price of the Motorola Edge X30 starts at CNY 3,199 ($501) for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage. The 8GB RAM + 256GB version goes for CNY 3,399 ($532) and the 12GB RAM + 256GB goes for CNY 3,599($564).
The Special Edition of the Edge X30 with its UDC tech is priced at CNY 3,999 ($627). Sales of all models is expected to start by December 15th.

Motorola Edge S30
Motorola Edge S30 features a 6.8-inch IPS LCD panel, FHD+ resolution, and 144Hz refresh rate. It comes with the Snapdragon 888+ 5G chip inside paired with up to 12B of RAM.
The device features a triple camera system: 108MP main camera, 13MP ultra-wide lens, and 2MP depth sensor. Upfront, it comes with a 16MP for selfie. It runs Android 11 out of the box and it’s powered by a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charge.

The starting price of Motorola Edge S30 China is CNY 1,999 ($313) for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage. While the 12GB RAM + 256GB variant goes for CNY 2,599 ($407). Sales is expected to begin in China from December 21st.
