Motorola to release two premium phones with Snapdragon chip soon

Motorola has been tipped to be among the first companies to use the incoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 chip. The company is expected to launch the Moto Edge X in China in December. This same device will debut as Moto Edge 30 Ultra globally by January 2022. But it appears the company has more in stock for its users.

A new report is claiming that Motorola will release two premium smartphones soon. One of these phones will be powered by the Snapdragon 888+ chip and the second phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 898 chip.

According to popular tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, Motorola will release two premium phones in December of 2021 as part of its dual-flagship strategy. The tipster also said that the phone powered by the Snapdragon 888 plus chip is cheaper (has lower price).

Details about the Motorola phone powered by the Snapdragon 888 Plus is not available yet but from previous reports, the Moto Edge X/Edge 30 ultra will feature the Snapdragon 898 chip (might be one of the two devices to be released).

From the leaked specs, the Moto Edge X/Edge 30 ultra will feature a 6.67-inch OLED display with 144Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support and a hole-punch to house a 60MP selfie camera. It will have a triple rear camera setup of; 50MP main (with OIS), 50MP ultra-wide, and a 2MP depth sensor.

The smartphone will run Android 12 out of the box and have up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage. There willl be no microSD card slot for storage expansion.

Other specs of the Moto Edge X/Edge 30 Ultra includes; a 5,000mAh battery with 68W charging support, USB-C (3.1 Gen 1) port, IP52 rating, dedicated Google Assistant button, and stereo speakers. It will also come with Bluetooth 5.2, WLAN 6, and Sub-6 5G, but you won’t get the 3.5mm headphone jack.
