Nvidia DLSS 3: Games are becoming more graphic intensive and this also means that better GPU cores are required to render these games. But what happens if you can’t afford to buy expensive GPUs? Most times, you end up getting low-quality video outputs when playing games and the gaming experience becomes very dissatisfying. This is where AI-graphic technology such as the Nvidia DLSS becomes important.

Nvidia DLSS
You see, to help users get crisp graphics/images while playing games with lower GPUs, Nvidia invented the DLSS technology (DLSS stands for Deep Learning Super Sampling). The idea is to make it possible for Nvidia RTX GPUs to render graphics in higher resolution at fast frame rates using AI (thereby reducing the work of the CPU).
The trick with rendering high graphics or images when playing games is that it usually means lower frame rates and this means experiencing lags or throttles when playing these games at high resolution. But, the Nvidia DLSS technology solves both problems. With Nvidia DLSS implemented in the Nvidia RTX GPUs, these GPUs can output quality graphics/images when playing games while also maintaining or increasing the frame rates.

This means gamers get crisp images without having to sacrifice a smooth experience when playing games. There is the original Nvidia DLSS (released in 2020), the Nvidia DLSS 2 (released in 2021), and now the Nvidia DLSS 3 (released in 2022) which we’re here to talk about. So, what is the Nvidia DLSS 3, what is its importance, and which games support this new technology? Well, let’s find out.
What is Nvidia DLSS 3
Nvidia DLSS 3 is the third generation of the Deep Learning Super Sampling (an AI-powered graphics) which was announced by Nvidia on September 20, 2022. It still performs the same task of improving image quality and increasing frame rates while playing games but this time it does it better and faster. According to Nvidia, the new DLSS 3 technology is 4x faster than its predecessor.
For now, Nvidia DLSS 3 will only work with Nvidia RTX 40 GPU series and according to Nvidia, popular games have started implementing to take full advance of these AI-powered graphics. But what is the importance of the DLSS 3?

Importance of Nvidia DLSS 3
There are a few importance of DLSS 3 over native rendering:
- Better graphics/image quality output
- Up to 4x performance boost
- Better frame rates
- Zero render queue
- Reduces the work of the CPU
- Generates super-resolution and frame rates to fit the screen
According to Nvidia, an early test of the DLSS 3 on the Cyberpunk 2077’s new Ray Tracing: Overdrive mode game shows that the NVIDIA Reflex on DLSS 3 boosts the performance of the game by up to 4X. It also increased responsiveness by 2X, compared to native resolution, all while maintaining great image quality.
This means that RTX 40 series will give gamers a better gaming experience when compared to RTX 30 series. The DLSS 3 will produce better photo quality, faster frame rates, and increased response while using any of the RTX 40 series.
