The Nvidia RTX 4070 vs Nvidia RTX 3080 are at the neck to neck when it comes to performance. Here is the outcome of the gaming tests we carried out. The list of games tested is Halo Infinite, Microsoft Flight Stimulator, Watch Dog: Legions, Metro Exodus Enhanced Ultra, Forza Horizon 5, and Far Cry 6.
1440p BenchMarks
In most of the games (at least 4 out of the 6 games tested), the RTX 4070 beats the RTX 3080 at 1440p. The RTX 4070 was better than the RTX 3080 in titles like Microsoft Flight Stimulator, Forza Horizon 5, Far Cry 6, and Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition but loses out in Halo Infinite and Watch Dogs: Legion.
Overall, in the 6 games’ average FPS performance, the Nvidia RTX 4070 was 7 percent better than the Nvidia RTX 3080 at 1440p.
4K Benchmarks
When it comes to 4K performance, the latest Nvidia RTX 4070 loses out by a tiny margin. The Nvidia RTX 3080 was superior by 2 percent. This affirms the fact that the latest RTX 4070 graphics card has its core strength in 1440p performance and not 4K. However, we did observe that when DLSS is enabled, the RTX 4070 has an edge over the RTX 3080.

Nvidia RTX 4070 is 7% better than the Nvidia RTX 3080 at 1440p. But at 4K, the RTX 3080 is 2% faster than the RTX 4070. Like we said earlier on somewhere within this post, both GPUs have a neck-to-neck performance. However, here are three reasons to consider buying the RTX 4070 over the old RTX 3080.
First, the RTX 4070 is more power efficient. Secondly, buying the RTX 4070 is cheaper than getting the RTX 3080. And lastly, you’ll get access to Nvidia’s latest architecture and the DLSS 3.0. But the downside of it is the struggling 4K performance.
