Note: The OnePlus Ace is also known as the OnePlus 10R outside China. But for the purpose of this article, I’ll be referring to the phone as the OnePlus Ace. But this review still serves as a guide for those who want to buy the OnePlus 10R.

OnePlus Ace Review

Display, Design, and Build

The display size of the OnePlus Ace is 6.7-inches. It has an AMOLED panel, has 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, peak brightness of 950 nits, and a display resolution of 1080 x 2412 pixels. The screen is flat and the display is protected by a Gorilla Glass 5.

OnePlus Ace Review

The design of the OnePlus Ace is a punch-hole on the center top screen. On the rear, the phone has a camera module that is placed vertically at the top left corner. The rear camera module has one big camera sensor that houses the main camera and two other small camera sensors just beneath the big one.

The build materials of the OnePlus Ace are a Glass front (Gorilla Glass 5) and a plastic frame. The back panel is not glossy and the phone is boxy as the back panel and front screen are both flat. Sadly, there is no official IP rating for this phone so you should keep it out of water and dust.

Camera

OnePlus Ace has a total of four cameras (three on the rear and one on the front). On the rear, it has a 50MP primary camera that has PDAF and OIS features. Then there is an 8MP ultra-wide lens and a 2MP macro lens supporting the rear camera. There is a 16MP front camera that can shoot steady videos in 1080p resolution.

OnePlus Ace Review

The 50MP primary camera is the best camera sensor in the phone. It can shoot steady videos in 4k resolution and is very good when taking low-light or night photography. The 8MP ultra-wide is decent when it’s needed and the macro lens is good for taking only close-up objects.

Overall, you’ll find the 50MP primary camera more useful and you might not even use the other rear cameras. Other camera features include LED flash, HDR, panorama, OIS, and gyro-EIS.

Chipset, CPU, and GPU

The chipset inside the OnePlus Ace is the MediaTek Dimensity 8100 Max 5G. This is one of the most powerful chipsets you’ll see in a mid-range phone in 2022. This chipset features an octa-core CPU that has 4x power cores with a speed clocked at 2.85GHz and 4x efficiency cores with a speed clocked at 2.00GHz.

The GPU inside the chipset is the Mali-G610 MC6. This GPU is very good and paired with the octa-core CPU, playing graphics-intensive games becomes very smooth without any lags. A recent report shows that the Dimensity 8100 Max 5G chipset is the best chipset inside a mid-range phone yet (as of the time of writing this article).

OnePlus has provided the HyperBoost game frame stabilization engine to reduce frame drops and jittering during long gaming sessions. This phone also features an X-axis linear motor and a Vapor Chamber with the largest cooling area in a OnePlus phone thus far.
