The smartphone launch frenzy is just getting started and OnePlus just joined in on the action. OnePlus has just announced that it’ll be launching the OnePlus Nord CE 2 on February 17 which is same date that Redmi will be launching the Redmi K50 series in China.

And even though we’re just getting over the heat of the Samsung Unpacked where Samsung launched the Galaxy S22 series and Galaxy Tab S8 series, OnePlus is taking us on another direction.

OnePlus is bringing the Nord CE 2 as an affordable premium device. The device is rumored to feature a 6.4-inch display, AMOLED panel, FHD+ resolution, and 90Hz refresh rate. The chipset inside is said to be the MediaTek Dimensity 900 5G chip paired with up to 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

For optics, the phone will come with a 64MP main camera with optical image stabilization. This will be assisted by an 8MP ultra-wide lens and a 2MP macro lens. Upfront, it’ll come with a 16MP selfie camera. The peak brightness of the screen is estimated to be 1000 nits which is a pretty bright screen.

As a 2022 smartphone, OnePlus Nord CE 2 is expected to boot Android 12 out of the box and the whole package will be powered by a 4,500mAh battery with 65W fast charge support.

The starting price of the Nord CE 2 is expected to be $399 for the 8 + 128GB storage while the 8 + 256GB is expected to cost $499. All these information and more will be confirmed when OnePlus releases the phone on February 17.

The OnePlus Nord CE 2 will first launch in India. It will be coming to Europe and US but maybe with a different name. Whatever the case, we’ll provide an update. So stay tuned.
