OPPO Reno 8: OPPO has launched the OPPO Reno 8 in China and it’s now available for purchase for $459. It features a smaller display in the OPPO Reno 8 series and also features the Dimensity 1300 5G chipset from MediaTek.

Just like the Reno 8 Pro, the OPPO Reno 8 comes in three storage configurations. Its base model starts with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage while the other models come with 8 + 256GB and 12 + 256GB of storage. But, before you jump to buying the Reno 8, allow me to share with you some of the key specifications of this phone.

Key features of OPPO Reno 8

The OPPO Reno 8 has a 6.43-inches AMOLED display, with FHD+ resolution, and a 90Hz refresh rate. The chipset inside the phone is the MediaTek Dimensity 1300 5G with an octa-core CPU and the Arm Mali-G77 MC9 GPU. The chipset is paired with 8/12GB of RAM and 128/256GB of internal storage.

It comes with a punch-hole on the top left and has a similar design as the Pro version of the Reno 8. Its build materials are a Glass front (Gorilla Glass 5) and a plastic frame. The front display is protected by the Gorilla Glass 5.

On the rear, the Reno 8 has three cameras while upfront it has a single selfie camera. It has a 50MP primary camera, a 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. There is a 32MP IMX709 (f/2.4, RGBW) front-facing camera. The rear camera can shoot steady videos in 4k resolution while the 32MP front camera can shoot steady videos in 1080p resolution.

The OPPO Reno 8 boots ColorOS 12.1 based on the Android 12 operating system. OPPO has promised at least two years of software updates and three years of monthly security patches for this phone. The Reno 8 also has support for Google Mobile Services and users can download apps and games from the Google Play Store.

OPPO Reno 8 is powered by a 4,500mAh battery with support for 80W wired fast charging. You can charge the phone from 0 to 100% in about 30 minutes. It has no wireless charge and no reverse wireless charge features. Other features of the phone include Fingerprint (under display, optical), NFC, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, etc.

Note that although the OPPO Reno 8 is currently a China-only exclusive smartphone, its network band has support for network carriers/providers outside China. So, even if you live in the United States and the UK, the phone should work perfectly with your network providers. You can also set up the phone in multiple languages as it has support for more than 15 languages including English, German, Spanish, Thai, and French.
