The 4th annual snapdragon summit organized by QUALCOMM is bringing more about 5G and AI (Artificial Intelligence). From the 4th annual summit that was held in Maui in Hawaii, QUALCOMM have announced the released of three new Mobile Platform, the Snapdragon 865, Snapdragon 765 and Snapdragon 765G.
All three Mobile Platform above will support the use of 5G and advance AI (Artificial Intelligence). Before now, flagship devices have been using the Snapdragon 855 but with the introduction of the new Snapdragon 865, that is about to change.
It seems that new flagship devices that uses the Snapdragon Mobile Platform will be making use of the Snapdragon 865. Seems that even the Samsung Galaxy S11 will be making use of this new Mobile Platform.
QUALCOMM also announced the release of the Snapdragon 765 and 765G into the Snapdragon 700 series. This new Mobile Platform will replace the Snapdragon 730 and 730G respectively. And it will be used in mid-range devices starting from 2020.
With the release of the new Mobile Platforms for both Flagship and affordable mid-range phones, QUALCOMM is making the statement that they want everyone to have a 5G enabled phone by 2020. And this can be very possible once android phone manufacturers start making use of these Mobile Platforms.
While we still don’t have an official Mobile Platform that supports 5G network for low entry and low budget smartphones, we believe that its just a matter of time before one is developed.
Snapdragon Summit: What to expect from the newly released Snapdragon Mobile Platforms?
According to QUALCOMM, the Snapdragon 865 is the highest performing hardware released by the company to date. It is paired with QUALCOMM snapdragon X55 modem. We won’t be talking about engineering terms but the above is referring to data transmission from one computer to another.
Come 2020, one can now expect all android phones making use of this chipset to be 5G enabled. QUALCOMM have confirmed that the Snapdragon 865 is a 5G platform. Hence any device that has this chipset come 2020 will be 5G enabled.
With this new Mobile Platforms from QUALCOMM, one can expect fast browsing, fast download, faster upload time. For game lovers, they should expect to play heavy duty games with super ease. Video editors should expect faster processing time and less editing and frequent hanging.
Interestingly, not only flagship devices will be having 5G capabilities come 2020. From the Snapdragon Summit, the company have also announced the release of two Mobile Platform targeted at mid-range devices that are also 5G enabled. The Snapdragon 765 and 765G are both targeted at Mid-range devices.
What this means that, even if you don’t have money to buy flagship devices, you also have the option to get a mid-range device that supports 5G. Snapdragon 765 and 765G are pretty same, only difference is that the 765G is a chipset targeted at gamers. That is, it has more gaming capabilities.
This development is both exciting and at same time sad. Exciting because come 2020 a new Mobile Platform from QUALCOMM that fully supports 5G will be on sale. This means more 5G phones will be in the market. It is sad at same time because not all countries have 5G network presently.
What is the use of getting a 5G phone when you don’t actually have a 5G network? Well for Nigerians they can be a little excited as MTN Nigeria have tested their 5G network in Abuja last week. More updates about 5G network in the country will be unveiled as time goes on.
However, technology is fast growing and QUALCOMM is not waiting behind. Expect more 5G enabled flagship and mid-range phones in 2020. We hope low budget phones also get a taste of the 5G network come 2020.
