Realme 9 Pro Plus Review: The Realme 9 Pro+ is one of the few mid-range phones in 2022 that’s almost too good for its price tag. This is because a few things make the phone stand out from the competition and it still maintains a similar price tag as the competition.
The $400 you’ll spend to buy the Realme 9 Pro+ is worth it but I don’t you to just take my words for it. This Realme 9 Pro+ review will explain to you why you should consider buying the phone ahead of other phones out there.
Realme 9 Pro Plus Review
Display, Design and Build
The Realme 9 Pro+ comes with a 6.4-inch display, AMOLED panel, support for a 90Hz refresh rate, and HDR10+ feature. It has a flat display and a punch hole at the top left corner that houses the selfie camera. The real camera module houses three camera sensors and it’s placed vertically at the side of the back plastic cover.
The screen of the phone is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 and its build materials are Glass front, plastic back, and plastic frame. The volume rocker and the power button are located on the right-hand side with stereo speakers and a 3.5mm jack port available located at the bottom.

There is no certified IP rating for the Realme 9 Pro+ which means water, dust, and even splash can cause damage to the phone. Aside from that, the design, build, and display of the phone are very solid. It has a fast and colorful display with small bezels (but a big chin).
Camera
The Realme 9 Pro+ comes with cameras that have lots of features and use. It has a triple rear camera and a single front camera. At the rear, it has a 50MP main camera with PDAF and OIS features, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP macro lens. Upfront, it features a 16MP selfie camera that can shoot steady videos in 1080p resolution.
The 50MP main camera uses the Sony IMX766 Flagship Camera sensor. Combined with the PDAF and OIS features, this camera brings you incredible photography and videography quality. To assist the main camera, there is an 8MP ultra-wide and a 2MP macro lens. The 50MP camera can shoot videos in 4k resolution in different framerates with the gyro-EIS stabilization feature available.

For the price you’re paying to buy the phone, the quality of photography and videography is incredible. One of the major selling points of the phone is its photo and video quality.
Chipset and Performance
The chipset inside the Realme 9 Pro+ is the MediaTek Dimensity 920 5G. This 5G chipset is a powerful mid-range SoC that has a fast CPU and powerful GPU. The Dimensity 920 5G has an octa-core CPU with a speed clocked at 2.5GHz. The CPU is paired with the Arm Mali-G68 MC4 GPU.
The peak download speed for this chip is 2.8Gbps and its peak upload speed is 1.6Gbps. This chip is using the LPDDR4x and LPDDR5 RAM technology and also has support for UFS 2.1 and UFS 3.1 storage technology. The chipset can also encode and decode videos in the following resolutions: H.264, H.265 / HEVC, and 4K @ 30FPS.

Although the Dimensity 920 5G chipset has support for a 120Hz refresh rate, Realme decided to use just 90Hz for the display of the Realme 9 Pro+. When it comes to gaming and rendering of high graphics such as videos in 4k resolution, the chipset inside the Realme 9 Pro+ is equal to the task.
RAM and Storage
The Realme 9 pro+ has three RAM and storage options. A 6GB RAM + 128GB storage, 8GB RAM + 128GB storage, and an 8GB + 256GB of storage. The RAM and storage options you’ll get depend on your region/country. There is no space for storage expansion via a microSD card which is a bummer.
Battery
Realme 9 Pro+ is powered by a 4,500mAh battery with a 60W fast charge. You can charge the battery from 0 to 100% in under 45 minutes. The phone has no wireless charge technology but you can use the battery of the phone for a long time. Steady heavy users can drain the battery in about 7 to 8 hours. While normal users can get up to a day and half use.

Realme 9 Pro Plus Review: Conclusion
The Realme 9 Pro+ review shows that the phone is almost too good for its price tag. I’ll explain the reason why I said “almost too good for the price tag” but for now, let’s talk about why you might decide to skip the Realme 9 Pro+ and why you should buy the Realme 9 Pro+.
Why some won’t like to buy the Realme 9 Pro+
- Has no official water and dust resistance rating
- Has no storage expansion
Why you should buy the Realme 9 Pro+
- Offers good value for the money
- Very good camera sensor
- Incredible photography and videography experience
- Fast and colorful display
- Powerful chipset with fast CPU cores and powerful GPU
- Has stereo speakers and 3.5mm jack port
- Display, build, and design is pretty solid
- Good software update plan (get upgraded to Android 15)
So, why is the Realme 9 Pro Plus almost too good for its price tag? The answer is simple, the phone ticks all the boxes. It has a powerful chipset, incredible camera, good display with a high refresh rate, good software update plan, and good battery life. The icing on the cake would have been a certified IP rating and space for storage expansion via a microSD card.
But even without certified IP water and dust resistance rating, the Realme 9 Pro+ is still one of the best performing and camera mid-range smartphones you can buy in 2022. Even the recently released POCO X4 Pro and Nord CE 2 5G is no match for the value the Realme 9 Pro+ brings to the table.
