Above is the summary of the main or key features of both phones. Let’s get to see which one is actually better by analyzing and comparing each feature. We’ll start from the phone cameras.
Redmi Note 8 Pro vs Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 Camera
The Huawei Y9 Prime comes with a triple rear camera with 16MP been the main camera. It also has a 8MP for ultrawide camera and 2MP for depth sensor which good for the phone and it’s users. The Redmi Note 8 Pro on the other hand comes with four cameras at the back. It has a 64MP main camera, 8MP ultrawide, 2MP depth sensor and a dedicated 2MP macro camera.
In it’s simplest sense, the main camera of the Redmi Note 8 Pro is more than three times bigger than that of Huawei Y9 Prime (64MP divide by three is about 21MP). That aside, the Redmi Note 8 Pro also comes with an additional camera feature that is not available in the Huawei Y9 Prime and that is the 2MP dedicated macro camera. This means that the back camera of Redmi Note 8 Pro will get more job done when compared with that of the Y9 Prime from Huawei.
Upfront the Redmi Note 8 Pro has a 20MP camera for selfies while the Y9 Prime has a 16MP camera. The Huawei Y9 Prime comes with a pop camera but we’re going to leave that in this comparison and focus on the lenses. Both front cameras are expected to take amazing picture but trust me the Redmi Note 8 Pro came better equipped.
You see, the Redmi Note 8 Pro front camera comes with the HDR and Panorama feature which the Y9 Prime lacks. So you can see that the fancy pop up is good but it won’t do the job on same level as the static Redmi front camera. In camera, the Y9 Prime is trailing behind the Redmi Note 8 Pro.
Redmi Note 8 Pro vs Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 RAM and Storage
We know that RAM and storage have always been an important part of mobile phones. The Redmi comes with a 6GB or 8GB RAM which practically is too much for a mid range(if you understand what I mean). Now this is a very good thing as most other mid range devices are not even packed with anything more than 6GB. Coupled with the RAM is the 64GB or 128GB internal storage. You don’t just get to multi tasking but also get to save lots of files.

Huawei Y9 Prime comes with a 4GB RAM which u okay but a bigger RAM would have been better. In it’s internal storage, the Y9 Prime is really impressive. It comes with a 64GB or 128GB internal storage with an option of external storage via microSD card up to 1TB.
By default, in RAM and Internal storage the Redmi Note 8 Pro is better equipped as it is even packed with the UFS technology. But since both phones have the option for external storage, one can just take this category as it is and move on.
Redmi Note 8 Pro vs Huawei Y9 Prime Chipsets and Processors
Both phones came packed with Chipsets that are meant for gamers. Y9 prime is packed with the Hisilicon Kirin 710F (12 nm) while the Redmi is packed with the Mediatek Helio G90T (12nm). Note that both Chipsets are very okay to keep this phone running and even process high and heavy duty games.
The interesting part of this category will have to be the processor. Both phones comes with octa core processors(8 processors) which is good. The Huawei Y9 Prime comes with a 2.2 GHz and 1.7 GHz. While the Redmi Note 8 Pro comes with a 2.05 GHz and 2.0 GHz. Well you can easily say the Huawei Y9 Prime wins this one because of it’s 2.2 GHz. Relax that is not quite how it works, let’s get to explain somethings.
You see the Huawei Y9 Prime uses the Cortex-A73 in it’s first 2.2 GHz processor. While the Redmi uses the Cortex-A76 which an upgrade and a newer version of the Cortex-A70 series. It means that the 2.05 GHz of the Redmi will perform better than the 2.2 GHz of the Huawei. In the second processor, Huawei Y9 Prime uses a 1.7 GHz Cortex-A53 processor while the Redmi Note 8 Pro uses a 2.0 Cortex-A55 processor which is also an upgrade of the one used by Huawei.
In the processing category you can see that Redmi were using things that are the upgrade of that of Huawei Y9 Prime. In it’s simplest sense, the Redmi Note 8 will be faster in processing and there is no much doubt about that.
Redmi Note 8 Pro vs Huawei Y9 Prime Battery
Xiaomi packed the Redmi Note 8 Pro with a 4500mAh battery while Huawei packed the Y9 Prime 2019 with a 4000mAh battery. Both battery are capable of keeping the phone running for a long time.
Other features
Both phones comes with finger print that is rear mounted. The Redmi Note 8 Pro comes with a gorilla glass 5 screen protector and that is something not available in the Huawei Y9 Prime.
