The Samsung smartphone frenzy is still on and it’s not too early to talk about the possible next budget flagship phone from the company. With the release of the Samsung Galaxy S22 series and now the Galaxy A-series, Samsung might now turn its attention to the Galaxy S22 FE.
It seems the company might release the Fan Edition of the Galaxy S22 early next year. This is because the release of the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE was delayed for months till it finally debut in January this year. If Samsung wants to gather hype around the incoming Galaxy S22 FE, the company might just hold its launch till January next year. What is even more interesting is that there is a new rumor about the chipset that powers this phone.

According to It’s Fat on his Weibo account, a Samsung phone is in the works that will feature the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset. The post suggested that the incoming Samsung phone could be called Galaxy A52 Pro or Galaxy S22 FE. Well, Samsung has never named any of its phones in the A-series “Pro” so the argument tends to lean towards the Galaxy S22 FE.
Also, since the Galaxy A-series are mid-range smartphones, it’ll be difficult to believe that Samsung will use a high-end flagship such as the Dimensity 9000 in a Galaxy A-series.

If this turns out to be true, the choice of chipset comes with mixed feelings though. Don’t get it wrong, the Dimensity 9000 chipset is a very powerful chipset and the Geekbench test has shown that it’s as good as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 from Qualcomm and Exynos 2200 from Samsung.
On the other hand, it’ll be the first time in a long while Samsung is using a MediaTek chipset inside its flagship phone. The Galaxy S21 FE features the same chipset as the Galaxy S21 series and one would expect its successor to follow the same route.

But whatever the case, Samsung can save money with this chipset because the Xiaomi Redmi K50 Pro with this chipset is priced at just $599. So, it’s going to be a win-win for all as the phone will be able to deliver top-level performance and can also be pocket friendly.
The phone posted by It’s Fat on Weibo has a 4,500mAh battery and if it’s the Galaxy S22 FE we can expect it to have a similar display and camera as the regular Galaxy S22.

Even if the Dimensity 9000 chipset is used for a version of the Galaxy S22 FE, it might not make it to the US market. We believe that model will be available in Europe while the US and Chinese markets will get the model that featured the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip. Again, all these are just speculations and we expect to see more updates soon. So, stay tuned.
