Below are some of the features that are available in the Samsung Galaxy A51 but not available in the Galaxy M30s. There are also some features available in the Galaxy M30s that is not available in the Galaxy A51.
Build and Display
The Galaxy A51 is built with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and this also serves as the protection of its display. But there is no screen or display protection available in the Galaxy M30s. So, the Galaxy A51 is better in this category.
In the display category both phones are practically same. Both phones have the Super AMOLED display type which is very good. They have same screen resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels but the display size of the Galaxy A51 is bigger by some few inches (approximately 0.1 inches bigger).
When it comes to build and display there is no much of an upgrade here. These two phones offer same quality in terms of its display except of course the display protection feature.
The first major difference between these phones will have to be in the camera category. While the Samsung Galaxy M30s makes use of triple rear cameras, the Samsung Galaxy A51 makes us of quad cameras at the back. Both phones have a 48 megapixel main camera but the Galaxy A51 have a 12 megapixel ultrawide camera while the Galaxy M30s has an 8 megapixel ultrawide camera.
Simply put, the ultrawide camera of the Samsung Galaxy A51 is an upgrade of the one available in Galaxy M30s. Another difference in the camera is the presence of a 5 megapixel dedicated macro camera in Samsung Galaxy A51 which is not available in Galaxy M30s.
Upfront, the Galaxy M30s has a 16 megapixel lens for selfie while the Galaxy A51 has a 32 megapixel lens for selfie. Both phones can shoot 4k videos with the back cameras.
What this means is that, the Galaxy A51 is expected to take better ultrawide camera than the Galaxy M30s. And there is an additional camera feature for users to explore which is the dedicated macro camera.
RAM and Internal Storage
There is no upgrade in this category as both phones make use of 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. Both phones also supports external storage via microSD, up to 1 TB. So, users should expect same performance here and same storage space for files and whatever you feel like saving.
But the Galaxy M30s comes with the UFS version 2.1 to aid in it’s operation. Surprisingly this feature is not available in the newly released Galaxy A51. Makes us wonder though, why would an old phone have a technology that supports storage and the newly released phone does not?
Chipset and Processor
One would have thought that the soon to be released Galaxy A51 will come with a much recent chipset. But it also spot same chipset as the Galaxy M30s which is the Samsung’s own chipset, the Exynos 9611 (10nm). They make use of same GPU (Mali-G72 MP3) and CPU Octa-core (4×2.3 GHz Cortex-A73 & 4×1.7 GHz Cortex-A53).
So, there is still no upgrade here in the Chipset and Processor category. Both phones will offer same processing speed, gaming mode experience etc. In this category, both phones are not similar, the are same. Samsung Galaxy A51 and Galaxy M30s have same processing CPU speed and same power efficiency core. There is no single difference or upgrade.
Samsung Galaxy A51 is powered by a 4000mAh battery and the Galaxy M30s is powered by a 6000mAh battery. Finally a feature where the Galaxy M30s did way better than Galaxy A51. Both phones have fast charge enabled feature which means you should expect same performance in battery.
When it comes to specifications, the Samsung Galaxy A51 is no much of an upgrade. It basically have same features as the Galaxy M30s. There is no modifications(upgrade) to its CPU, its chipset.
The three major difference between these two phones will have to be the design, the operating system and the back camera. In truth, the Samsung Galaxy A51 spots a better design than the Galaxy M30s. Galaxy A51 also runs on Android 10 while the Galaxy M30s runs on Android 9. Presence of a macro camera and a 12 megapixel ultrawide camera is another feature that sets them apart.
But looking beyond the things mentioned above the phones offer same value. Same storage space, same processing speed, same gaming and movie watching experience and even same battery. The 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage of the Galaxy A51 is expected to cost about N150,000 Nigeria Naira.
If you need a phone with modern design, want to have a taste of how Android 10 feels like and/or you want to take photos of insects then there is really need for you to upgrade from the galaxy M30s to galaxy A51. You can/should also consider upgrading to the Samsung Galaxy A71 instead.
