Starting with durability, the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G is the right pick. It has IP67 water and dust resistance certification. Moreso, the Galaxy A53 display is slightly bigger and smoother with 120Hz refresh rate support. It brings a 6.52-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED touchscreen with a 120Hz refresh rate enabled. Unlike the Realme 9 Pro+ with a 6.4-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED touchscreen with a 90Hz refresh rate.

Overall, the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G display is superior and because of the IP67 rating, it is more durable than the Realme 9 Pro+.

Camera

When it comes to the camera, both devices are almost at par. The photography and videography experience is excellent for mid-range phones. The Realme 9 Pro+ brings a flagship 50MP main camera with OIS support, joined by an 8MP ultrawide lens and a 2MP macro. Upfront is a 16MP selfie camera. However, only the rear camera can record video in 4K resolution.

The Galaxy A53 5G on the other hand, brings a 64MP main camera with OIS support, a 12MP ultrawide lens, a 5MP macro lens, and a 5MP depth sensor. Upfront is a 32MP selfie camera. While both the front and back cameras can record video in 4k resolution.

These two smartphones support 5G network. The Samsung Galaxy A53 5G is powered by the Exynos 1280 5G chipset paired with 8GB RAM and 128/256 GB storage. While the Realme 9 Pro+ is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 920 5G chipset, paired with 6/8 GB RAM and 128/256 GB storage.

Both smartphones have an almost similar performance. In fact, the GPU and CPU cores on both chips are similar with the exception of the CPU clock speed.

Software

Software-wise, Samsung Galaxy A53 5G runs Android 12 out of the box and is eligible for up to 4 years of major OS updates. While the Realme 9 Pro+ boots Android 12 out of the box and is eligible for 3 years of major OS updates. However, Samsung’s One UI 4 skin software is cleaner and smoother than Realme’s skin software.

Battery

When it comes to battery, both devices have 4,500 mAh capacity but the Realme 9 Pro+ has a faster 60W charger. Unlike Samsung’s slower 25W charging system.

Samsung Galaxy A53 5G vs Realme 9 Pro Plus are great mid-range smartphones. The Galaxy A53 packs more features and it’s more durable because of its water-resistant certification. Realme 9 Pro+ is cheaper and offers cool value too especially with the flagship camera on. I guess it boils down to user preference and budget at this point.

However, if I’m to score these two devices by percentage. I’ll score the Realme 9 Pro+ (48%) while the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G gets (52%)
