Samsung Galaxy A72 vs Tecno Phantom X: The Galaxy A72 is popular for its water resistant feature and OIS camera capability. While the Tecno Phantom X is admired for its curved AMOLED display and 50MP main camera with laser autofocus. These two devices deserve props in their respective ways. However, which one of these two offers more value? Let’s find out.

Display & Design

These two smartphones have 6.7″ AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and 90Hz refresh rate enabled.

And when it comes to body built, both smartphones are opposite of each other. The Samsung Galaxy A72 has a plastic back, which is more durable than the Glass back on the Phantom X. like I know two people already whose Phantom X back has broken. like Jerry would say, “glass is glass and glass breaks”.

So plastic over glass anytime when it comes to durability. Glass feels premium, but it breaks.

Fingerprint

The fingerprint of these two smartphones are under display, and from my test, the Phantom X fingerprint is faster.

Software

Now software update is very important on modern smartphones. This is because with regular software update, your smartphone can support newer features that previous software doesn’t support. It also means you can use your smartphone for a longer time instead of buying new smartphone every year.

So even though these two smartphones run android 11 out of the box, Galaxy A72 has a promise of 3 years software update. Which is a big slap on the Tecno Phantom X that is more expensive.

Camera

Tecno Phantom X has 50MP main shooter which is very good in daylight and for night pictures. The phone uses laser Autofocus which is a premium feature.
There is also an ultrawide camera with 8MP lens. The ultrawide camera is unimpressive. It lacks quality.
And lastly there is a 13MP telephoto lens that is capable of 2x optical zoom. The front selfie cameras are average.

Samsung Galaxy A72 on the other hand, has 64MP main shooter which is very good in color accuracy. Moreover, it’s daylight and night pictures are top notch. Thanks to the OIS feature.
There is also an ultrawide camera with 12MP lens. The ultrawide camera is average.
Also there is an 8MP telephoto lens that is capable of 3x optical zoom. The front selfie camera is 32MP.

Both smartphones are capable of recording videos in 4K resolution.

Battery

When it comes to battery life, the Phantom X is at par with the Galaxy A72. The Phantom X battery so far has been amazing. It has 4,700 mAh capacity with 33W fast charge support. While the Samsung Galaxy A72 has 5,000 mAh capacity with 25W fast charge support.

Performance | Chipset | RAM

In terms of performance, the Tecno Phantom X is powered by MediaTek helio G95 chipset paired with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. While the Galaxy A72 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G chipset paired with 8 GB RAM and 128/256 GB storage.

These two chipsets can perform similar task smoothly. And for the record, none of these two smartphones supports 5G network.

Samsung Galaxy A72 vs Tecno Phantom X: Price

Tecno Phantom X is more expensive. It will cost you N228,000 (~$550). While the Samsung Galaxy A72 price starts at N200,000 (~$487).
