Network Connectivity

This should be the first place you noticed the difference above. The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra comes with 5G network while the Apple iPhone 11 pro max does not. Well, this does not mean that the iPhone 11 pro max won’t download and upload files at great speed. But, comparing the download and upload speed of 4G to that of 5G, the Samsung Galaxy Ultra 5G is winning this category.

What this means is that, if you are to choose between these phones in terms of download and upload speed, the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G is the better option.

Build, Design and Display

Depending on your choice, you can decide which of the designs of these phones you like. I mean, the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G comes with a punch hole display at the middle while the iPhone 11 pro max does not. What actually matters is that the designs of both phones very modern and housed all the sensors the phones needs. Although the Galaxy S20 ultra designs does look more attractive.

Talk about the builds of both phones and they don’t really have much differences. Both phones are built with front and back glass with the iPhone 11 having a Stainless steel frame while the Galaxy S20 having an Aluminum frame.

In the display category, the Samsung phone comes with a bigger display size of 6.9 inches which is about 0.4 inch bigger than the iPhone 6.5 inches. The Galaxy S20 ultra 5G also spots a better display resolution of 1440 x 3200 pixels, 20:9 ratio (~511 ppi density) about 53 ppi density better than that of the iPhone.

Both phones does have 120Hz refresh rate or touch sensing with the Galaxy S20 ultra having HDR10+ while the iPhone 11 Pro max having HDR10. From the paper specs and quick reviews thus far, the display of the iPhone 11 pro max is good but that of the Galaxy S20 ultra 5G is even better.

Operating System and Chipset

Both phones comes with the latest operating systems. The Galaxy S20 Ultra comes with Android 10 while the Apple iPhone 11 pro max comes with iOS13. But we won’t be talking much about the Operating System(OS), our focus will be on the performing chipsets or SOCs of both phones.

You see, the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G is packed with the chipsets/SOCs Snapdragon 865 (7nm+) for USA and Exynos 990 (7nm+) for Global market. While the Apple iPhone 11 pro max is built on the chipset/SOCs Apple A13 Bionic (7 nm+).

Here is the fun part. From live test, the Apple iPhone 11 chipset is a little faster in processing than the chipsets used in Samsung Galaxy S20. What this means is that, there are still some tasks that the iPhone 11 pro max will perform faster. Note that this does not mean that the Galaxy S20 ultra 5G will be far behind.

Internal Storage and RAM

The Galaxy S20 ultra 5G comes with 12 and 16GB of RAM while the iPhone 11 pro max comes with just 4GB of RAM. We don’t know what Apple was thinking but a 4GB RAM is definitely no match for 12 and 16GB RAM. When it comes to RAM processing, we can expect the Samsung phone to have better performance.

In the internal storage region there is no much differences other than the fact that the iPhone 11 pro max comes in a 64GB variant. But both phones have a maximum of 512GB internal storage, this is a storage found in most PCs. The Galaxy phone have space for external storage while the Apple phone does not support external storage.

Camera

Our comparison brings us to the Camera of both phones. Last year, the Samsung Galaxy Note10+ was the best camera smartphone with the Galaxy S10+ just behind in second position. Now they won in these categories without the features currently available in the Samsung Galaxy S20 ultra 5G.

The iPhone 11 pro max comes with a 12 megapixel triple rear cameras (a wide, telephoto and ultrawide). It’s telephoto have a 2x optical zoom which is pretty awesome. On the other-hand, Galaxy S20 ultra 5G comes with a quad rear camera (108MP wide, 48MP telephoto, 12MP ultrawide and 0.3 depth sensor). One interesting feature of the Galaxy S20 ultra 5G is that it telephoto comes with a 10x optical zoom.

What this means is that, the Samsung phone can/will take a clearer pictures from a farther distance. However, both phones comes with the OIS, gyro-EIS, video stabilization and other features enabled. If you are looking for picture qualities, both phones can offer just what you need.

Battery

The Non-removable Li-Ion 3969 mAh battery of the iPhone 11 pro max was among the most talked about features of the phone last year. Lots of fans and critics expected more battery power. Galaxy S20 ultra 5G comes with a Non-removable Li-Ion 5000 mAh battery which is better than that of the Apple phone.

Aside from the battery capacity, both phone supports fast charging, wireless charging. However, the Galaxy S20 ultra 5G supports reversible charging technology which is not available in the iPhone 11 pro max.

Prices

Both phones are pretty expensive and that is no much of a surprise. The iPhone 11 pro max costs above N500,000 Nigeria Naira. While the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G is expected to cost above N600,000 Nigeria Naira.

We are gradually coming to the end of the comparison between the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G vs iPhone 11 pro max. Well with respect to the Apple iPhone 11 Pro max, the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G is winning this comparison. The design, display, camera and battery outclassed that of the iPhone 11 pro max. We hope the incoming iPhone 12 will be able to compete against this newly released Samsung phone.
