Display

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 has a brighter screen that can max up to 1200 nits. With a 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED touchscreen and 120Hz refresh rate enabled. It brings S Pen support and water resistant. Even the cover display features 120Hz refresh rate with a display size of 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED. This is Samsung’s third gen and they’ve done excellently well.

On the other hand, Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold has a bigger display of 8.01-inch AMOLED touchscreen with no high refresh rate. But the cover display with 6.5-inch AMOLED brings a 90Hz refresh rate support. No water resistant and doesn’t support the use of S Pen. Also, its max brightness is just 900 nits.

Overall, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is better. It is more durable, brighter and enhances productivity because of its S Pen support.

Camera

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 camera setup is similar to its previous generation. The Galaxy Fold 2 of last year. It brings a 12MP OIS main snapper, 12MP periscope 2x telephoto lens and 12MP ultrawide lens. While upfront is 10MP selfie camera. The UDC camera on the main display is 4MP and lacks proper quality in photography.

However, Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold, brings a higher resolution camera setup. A 108MP main camera with no OIS feature (which is sad). Joined by an 8MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and finally, a 13MP for an ultrawide angle. Upfront, it has a 20MP selfie camera.

Samsung Galaxy Fold 3 is powered by Snapdragon 888 5G chipset. Paired with 12GB RAM and 256/512GB storage options. The Snapdragon 888 chipset is built on a 5nm process. It is faster and more battery efficient.

Sitting on the helm of the Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold is the Snapdragon 888 5G chip. Paired with 12/16GB RAM and 256/512 GB storage.

Software

These two foldable devices boot their respective skin software on top of Android OS out of the box. And according to samsung, 4 years major OS update is certain for the Galaxy Fold 3.

Battery

There is a slight difference when it comes to their battery life. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 battery is 4,400 mAh capacity with 25W fast charge. While that of Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold is 5,000 mAh battery capacity with 67W fast charge.

Price

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is more pricey at launch with a starting price of $1,799 for the 12/256GB model. While, the Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold, although affordable but not available outside China.

Conclusion

It is very easy for me to recommend the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 for anyone to buy. You’ll get a water resistant feature, unique software customization and a S Pen support.

So if I’m to score both foldable devices by percentage. I’ll score the Samsung Galaxy Fold 3 (54%) while the Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold gets (46%).
