Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 Durability: If the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is your first foldable device, durability will be a top concern for you. I mean, a phone that folds in half will have you worrying about its hinges. Its softer inner screen will have you worrying about dust and its speaker holes and USB ports will have you worrying about water. But, you might just have been worried over nothing, and here is why.

A new durability test carried out by JerryRigEverything in a video on YouTube has confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is actually stronger than you think. The smartphone was officially rated to be IPX8 waterproof but it is also dustproof (at least on the surface level).

The test carried out by JerryRigEverything includes a bend test and dust test. The Galaxy Fold 4 was bent from the back with so much power but it did not break. This is mostly because the device featured an Armor aluminum frame with tougher drop and scratch resistance. This frame is very tough and was able to withstand the extreme bend test.

Another surprising test is the dust test. Jerry covered the phone in dust including the softer inner screen. After multiple closings and openings, the screen also worked fine. This means small particles of dust won’t cause big harm to the screen and this is good because sometimes particles of dust will sit on the screen of Galaxy Fold 4.

Although particles of dust did not cause any damage to the inner screen from the Galaxy Z Fold 4 durability test video, the test also confirmed that the wider inner screen is very soft, and using a sharp object to touch the screen will cause significant damage to that screen. This explains why Samsung has a warning about the inner screen when you’re setting up the phone for first-time use.

The phone is rated to be waterproof and Jerry also confirmed that the SIM card tray of the phone is protected by a water seal. And if the Galaxy Fold 4 look anything like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, the hinges, speaker holes, and other openings including screws have some water seals covering them to prevent water penetration.
