A new report has surfaced suggesting that Samsung won’t be launching a Galaxy A74 next year when it introduced the Galaxy A54 and A34 phones. For some years, the Galaxy A5x phones have been the bestselling mid-range phones from the Korean phone maker.

Remember that the Samsung Galaxy A73 was only released in a number of countries and in very limited quantity. As it stands, it seems the A73 will be the last phone in the Galaxy A7x series. This means that the Galaxy A5x phones will be the most premium phone in the Galaxy A series.

Why Samsung could stop making Galaxy A7x phones

Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen leaks regarding the Galaxy A54 and other incoming Galaxy Ax phones. But there have been no leaks about the A74 and this is probably simply because the phone does not exist. But why could Samsung stop making Galaxy A7x phones? The answer is short and simple, “Chinese brands”.

You see, the premium mid-range phone segment has become more competitive over the past few years. More Chinese brands are making really good phones are incredibly cheaper prices. This has made and will make it very difficult for Samsung to sell large quantities of Galaxy A7x phones.

For example, the iQOO Neo 7 with the Dimensity 9000+ chipset is sold for $459 in China, the Motorola Moto X40 with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset is sold for $599 in China, and the Nubia Z50 with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is sold for $529 in China. All these phones featured powerful chipsets and good cameras with fast charging but are priced similarly to Galaxy A7x phones.

So, Samsung might not be able to compete with the price tags of these Chinese phones. The best strategy will be to leave that space. But how will the company bridge the price gap between its Galaxy A5x phones and Galaxy Sx phones?

Well, we don’t know but we think the best way for Samsung to compete with these Chinese brands will be through its Galaxy Sx FE series. The Fan Edition of the Samsung Galaxies has been sweethearts over the past few years and these are the only phones with the capacity to compete with these Chinese brands.

But so far, we’re yet to see any leak or report about the Galaxy S22 FE or S23 FE. Truth is, competition is nice and it’s a good thing that good phones are getting cheaper.
