Sega is buying Rovio Entertainment for USD 775 million (€706 million). Sega Corporation made this announcement known and has confidence in completing the deal before September 2023.
Rovio Entertainment is the maker of Angry Birds. Thus, if Sega should complete the purchase deal before September, it will take over Rovio’s mobile game development and use the company’s expertise in mobile gaming to expand and create multi-platform titles from Sega’s IP portfolio.
Among the rapidly growing global gaming market, the mobile gaming market has especially high potential, and it has been Sega’s long-term goal to accelerate its expansion in this field. I feel blessed to be able to announce such a transaction with Rovio, a company that owns “Angry Birds”

Additionally, Sega Cooperation is looking into expanding Rovio’s platform “outside of mobile gaming”. This could mean the development of new Angry Birds titles for consoles, as well as new feature films and TV series.
