Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 2 vs Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1: Which is faster?

Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 2 vs Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1: The Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 is barely faster than Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 2 with 4% speed. Both chipsets fall under the flagship killers category and currently, they power many premium smartphones.

In contrast, at the time of writing this post, only the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Turbo and Realme GT Neo 5 SE are powered by the SD 7+ Gen 2 chipset. Overall, buying SD 7+ Gen 2 smartphones are cheaper.

Having tested the smartphones that are powered by either of these chipsets, we can say the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 performance is a leap ahead. Although the differences are minimal. The Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 2 vs Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 shares more similarities than differences.

Following their peak scores on the Geekbench, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 beats the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 by barely 4%. The former had 4,399 multi-core points, while the latter scored 4,279 points in multi-core.

When it comes to their CPU configuration, both SoCs feature octa-core processors with 1+3+4 architecture. The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 chipset has 1 x Cortex-A710 @2.91 GHz.., 3 x Cortex-A710 @2.49 GHz.., and 4 x Cortex-A510 @1.8 GHz. In contrast, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 has more premium and powerful cores with high clock frequency. It brings 1 x Cortex-X2 @3.0 GHz.., 3 x Cortex-A710 @2.72 GHz.., and 4 x Cortex-A510 @2.0 GHz.

Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 2 vs Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1: Roundup

Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 is faster and better in performance than the Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 2. However, the differences are insignificant. Especially when you consider how cheap the SD 7+ Gen 2 phones are priced. If you can afford the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 phones then go for it. Otherwise, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 phones are capable to perform almost similar tasks + they are cheaper.
