Process Technology & Power Management

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and MediaTek Dimensity 9200 are 5G chipsets that are built on the second generation of TSMC’s 4nm process technology. This means both chipsets have similar power efficiency but the Qualcomm chipset has a slightly better efficiency thanks to the arrangement of its CPU cores and efficiency core speed.

Both chipsets have the same Cortex-X510 efficiency core but the frequency of this core in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is 2.0GHz while on the Dimensity 9200 it is 1.8GHz. According to Qualcomm, its new chipset is about 40% more power efficient than its predecessor which means it could be about 10% more power efficient than the Dimensity 9200.

Truth is, you won’t notice the difference in power management in both chipsets at a glance. But, when you stress phones that feature both phones when playing graphics-intensive games for a long time, chances are the Snapdragon chipset will perform consistently for a longer time.
