T-Mobile Review: Unlimited Cell Phone Plans

T-Mobile advertises the prices of its cell phone plans along with related taxes and fees. Simply put, cell phone plans from T-Mobile have no hidden charges. What you see on their website is what you get most time when making a payment.

But if you are opting for the T-Mobile Essential Plan, you might want to double-check as you might be paying for hidden charges. For some reason (unknown to us), the company decided not to include taxes and fees.

T-Mobile Review

Aside from affordable pricing, you also get to enjoy a huge data cap with T-Mobile’s unlimited cell phone plans. For example, with the Magenta Plus Plan; your data cap until you hit 50GB (which is great compared to other providers), you get strong coverage, and you also enjoy quality HD streaming.

So, how do T-Mobile’s unlimited cell phone plans compare with those of other carriers?

T-Mobile Unlimited cell phone plans comparison

Well, T-Mobile doesn’t have the same level of service coverage as Verizon. But as far as basic unlimited plans go, T-Mobile plans are among the most affordable. While there are MVNO Providers with cheaper plans, T-Mobile however beats them in speed, data cap, and coverage.

Your concern when using T-Mobile should be rural coverage only. If you live or travel to some parts of the West, you might not get the level of coverage you’d want. But, for those of us living in urban parts of the country, you might actually love T-Mobile.

To be honest, with the level and considering that T-Mobile is as big as Verizon and AT&T, we’re surprised that its cell phone plans don’t cost more.

T-Mobile Review: Family Plans

There are four options to choose from when it comes to picking a T-Mobile Family Plan. Ranging from no data to tons of data with HD streaming quality. Depending on what kind of unlimited plan you want, you can choose the one that best suits your pocket.

If you have a family that:

  1. Loves having access to tons of data
  2. Likes streaming in HD quality
  3. Frequently needs laptop access
  4. Enjoy watching Daily Show with Trevor Noah on your morning train commute

Then the T-Mobile Magenta Family Plan or Magenta Max Family Plan might be the cell phone plan you want to consider.

But if you have a family that:

  1. Just use the internet to check for email
  2. Browse through Twitter
  3. Post short videos on Instagram
  4. Watch short videos on TikTok
  5. Upload your Facebook status

Then T-Mobile’s basic unlimited plan, like the Essentials Plan will be just fine.

How do these T-Mobile family plans compare with other family plans? Let’s take a look.

T-Mobile family plans comparison

The money spent to purchase the T-Mobile family plan is well spent. The data cap alone is enough to push you into getting into one of these Family plans from T-Mobile.

Here is the deal, with T-Mobile, you’ll enjoy up to 50GB before your data speed starts throttling. This makes it better than the 22 or 23GB you get with AT&T. The only carrier to top these 50 gigs is Verizon with its 75GB unthrottled data for its Mega unlimited plan.

So to round it up, with T-Mobile Family Plans you get:

  1. 50GB of data before it starts throttling
  2. Decent coverage (except for those living in rural areas)
  3. High-speed data
  4. Very affordable data plans

T-Mobile Review: Prepaid Plans

T-Mobile prepaid plans

Comparing the prices of T-Mobile Prepaid plans with the unlimited plans, the prepaid options are much cheaper. The only major difference is that you’ll be paying in advance with prepaid plans instead of getting your bill at the end of the month.

You can save a few bucks every month with prepaid plans. But anytime you forget to pay at the beginning of the month, you won’t be getting service – this is the most annoying part of using prepaid plans in general.

But just like the postpaid plans, with the T-Mobile prepaid plans, you also enjoy some perks. The 50GB data cap and mobile hotspot are still on for prepaid plans.

Simply put, everything you do on the internet will be faster with the T-Mobile versus Verizon or AT&T. You’ll buffer streams faster, download apps faster, and upload videos on Instagram and YouTube faster as well.

  3. T-Mobile: 62% 4G Cell Phone Coverage

T-Mobile customer service

The smartphone industry as a whole has issues with customer service, but T-Mobile is among the companies trying to change that (for the better).

Talk to a T-Mobile customer, and you’ll probably hear a mix of stories about customer service, both good and bad.

If you, however, want to get top service then we advise you to visit the T-Mobile store close to you. This way, you’ll get one-on-one interaction with an in-store representative. You’ll be surprised how helpful these reps can be and how considerate they are.

If you prefer to avoid phone calls and trips to the store, we can understand that. You can make contact with T-Mobile and ask questions on social media.

We hope T-Mobile will continue to improve on its customer service and keep pushing out transparent, easy-to-understand pricing. Because being able to understand what you’ll owe each month is important for customers.

  • Performance: Although its coverage lacks a bit (mostly in rural areas), T-Mobile still has the best network download and upload speeds.
  • Plans: T-Mobile offers a basic plan, Essentials, and a mid-tier plan, called ONE. T-Mobile plans are easy to understand—and most of its advertised prices include taxes and fees. Plus there’s no activation fee.
  • Customer service: While you might not find the call center that useful, but T-Mobile in-store reps are always very useful.
  • T-Mobile review conclusion: If you want fast data speeds, and affordable data plans, then you might just want to consider using T-Mobile. Just make sure you get coverage in your area, first.
