T-Mobile Unlimited Data: The phrase two are better than one is still very true today just as when whoever came up with the quote wrote it. Three is better and a group of four can’t be easily intimated.
Just like the phrases above, Family Plans offers you data plans that take the weight away from only your shoulders. With Family plans, the more lines you add, the lower the price and the more perks you get to enjoy.

Maybe you might have heard about T-Mobile Family plans and you’re considering switching to T-Mobile. But like every other person out there, you have a few questions that need answers. Questions like, how much does it cost per line, what perks you’ll enjoy, data speed, data cap, features, and if it’s actually worth the money.
In this article, my focus will be on the perks of T-Mobile’s unlimited data and Family plan and how it compares to its competitors (AT&T and Verizon). l will be picking each of the unlimited data and Family plans from T-Mobile, talking about the individual perks, and comparing them. So, let’s get started.
List of T-Mobile Unlimited Data and Family Plans
- Essentials
- Magenta
- Magenta Max
1. T-Mobile Essentials
The starting price of the T-Mobile Essential plan is $60 for a single line (tax and other fees included). This means that you’re actually getting the plan for lower than $60 after tax and other related fees are removed.

Now, this is already impressive as this T Mobile unlimited data starter plan is about $5 cheaper than that of AT&T and $10 cheaper than that of Verizon.
For two lines you’ll have to pay $90 monthly which is $45 per line. You also get to pay $90 monthly for three lines and that is $30 per line which is nice. If you ask me, adding three lines is the deal-breaker for me. I mean, why pay $90 for two lines when you can actually get three lines to be on the plan for the same price?
Adding four lines you get to pay $105 monthly which is $26 per line. And for five lines you’ll pay $120 which is $24 per line. At this point, it’s no longer about affordability because it’s obvious. Let’s talk about value for money instead.

And the narrative continues across the board. As you add more lines, you get more features and perks, and the price drops. But what remains constant is the $5-$10 difference when compared with similar plans from AT&T and Verizon.

Is T-Mobile Unlimited data and Family Plan Worth it?
The short answer to the question above is YES. But, you also have to consider a few things as T-Mobile is not all rosy.
You have to understand that T-Mobile does not boost the largest coverage in the country. This means, that if you live in rural areas of the United States or in parts of the countryside, you might not really get the speed you want.
Also, users can easily be deprioritized during network congestion and at 50GB of data, your internet speed will drop (for those in T-Mobile Essential Plan).
With the above out of the way, let’s now talk about the good stuff, and trust me there are a lot f them.
For starters, all T-Mobile Family Plans are at least $5-$10 cheaper compared to what AT&T and Verizon are offering. So mathematically, you’ll be saving about $60-$120 across all Family plans every year. That is not all.

T-Mobile might not have the largest 4G coverage in the United States but they sure have the largest 5G coverage in the country. And as we all know, 5G is the future. There are even more perks.
Any T-Mobile Family plan has no hidden charges (as of the time of writing this article). Tax and other fees are included when you decide to activate a plan.
You also get to enjoy a higher data cap and unlimited data for its Magenta Max plan. If you’re a fan of Netflix then T-Mobile family plans also got you covered with free Basic and Standard Netflix packages.
