Tecno Camon 17 Pro is the successor of Tecno Camon 16 Premier. This year, the highest model is the Camon 17 Pro. There won’t be a “Premier” version.

When it comes to price, the Tecno Camon 17 Pro is slightly more expensive. It will cost you $305 (N125,000) for 8GB RAM + 256GB storage. While the Camon 16 Premier price is $285 (N116,000).

The price of the Camon 17 Pro is a little higher, but again, remember you are getting a bigger storage (256GB) for it.

Camera

The Tecno Camon 17 Pro has quad rear camera setup. 64 MP primary camera + 8 MP ultrawide lens + 2 MP depth senor and 2 MP macro. The front camera is 48MP.

While the Tecno Camon 16 Premier has similar rear camera setup. 64 MP primary camera + 8 MP ultrawide lens + 2 MP depth senor and 2 MP macro. But the only difference is the selfie camera. The Tecno Camon 16 Premier has dual selfie cameras 48 + 8MP selfie cameras.

The Camon 16 Premier selfie camera has ultrawide lens + the 64MP rear camera has gyro-EIS (image stabilization).

Overall, both smartphones have similar camera system. Also, these two devices can record video in 4K resolution.

Display & Design

The display of both smartphones has similar quality. 90Hz refresh rate, FHD+ screen resolution and IPS LCD touchscreen.

However the design is slightly different, the Tecno Camon 17 Pro has a dot-in center camera cutout. While the Tecno Camon 16 Premier on the other hand, has dual selfie rectangular camera cutout that is placed on the top left hand side.

For the playing of games and intensive useage, the MediaTek helio G95 and G90T chipsets are capable.

Software

The Tecno Camon 17 Pro runs Android 11 out of the box. While the Camon 16 Premier software remains Android 10 of last year 2020.

The difference between these two smartphones are very minimal. But are important too. Hence, the Camon 17 Pro has more advantage, first is the higher storage option of 256GB.

Secondly, it has bigger battery capacity. And lastly, it runs the latest software Android 11 out of the box.

If I’m to score the value of these two smartphones by percentage, I’d score the Tecno Camon 17 Pro (54%). While the Tecno Camon 16 Premier gets (46%).
