Display & Design

The Tecno Camon 17P has 6.8″ IPS LCD display with FHD+ resolution but no high refresh rate. The screen is big for media consumption and playing of games. However, the lack of high refresh rate is an hitch.

Samsung Galaxy A22 on the other hand is more compact. Galaxy A22 has a 6.4″ Super AMOLED display with 90Hz refresh rate enabled. The display here is better than what you get on the Tecno Camon 17P Samsung Galaxy A22 display is rich in colors and also very smooth because of the 90Hz refresh availability.

Camera

Camera wise, Tecno Camon 17P has quad rear cameras. 64MP main camera, 2MP depth sensor, 2MP AI and 2MP macro. While upfront you’ll get 16MP selfie camera.

Samsung Galaxy A22 has a better camera setup and quality. 48MP main camera with OIS feature, 8MP ultrawide lens, 2MP depth sensor and 2MP macro. And upfront you get 13MP selfie. The Galaxy A22 is the cheapest device in the market with OIS feature. That improves the camera quality both in daytime and in lowlights condition.

So overall, even though none of these devices can record video in 4K resolution, the Samsung Galaxy A22 is far better when it comes to photography and videography. Thanks to the OIS feature available.

Performance wise, Tecno Camon 17P is powered by MediaTek helio G85 Chipset paired with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage. While the Samsung Galaxy A22 is powered by MediaTek helio G80 Chipset paired with 4 GB RAM and 64/128 GB storage.

Here, the Tecno Camon 17P is slightly better. It has higher RAM and also the Mediatek helio G85 Chipset is better than the G80 Chipset.

Tecno Camon 17P is more expensive but it doesn’t guarantee value for money. The main camera and battery life is top notch. But when it comes to long term value (software), display and camera quality, the Samsung Galaxy A22 is better.

If I’m to score these two phones by percentage, the Tecno Camon 17P gets (48%) while the Samsung Galaxy A22 gets (52%).
